Thread: Extracting sounds

  1. #41

    Default Re: Extracting sounds

I'm having some trouble when trying to unpack teutonic campaign sounds. Voices are not being unpacked, and the .bat file says something like "Failed to unpack". Is there any way to unpack kingdoms voices? Thanks in advance!

Did you put the right convertor in the teutonic\data\sounds folder?

I used the same as I was using for M2TW (not Kingdoms) files... is that ok?

It's the same. I've used it but it's been a long time.

You need to modify the 'extract_sound.bat' file - the original extracts voice1 voice2 and voice3, but the one on the mods is only called voice.
Extract the attachment and use the included bat file instead. It will only extract 'voice' nothing else.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for... anyway, it seems that teutonic voices are placed in the M2TW original sound packs...

Well, in fact, it seems there are no Teuton-specific voices (just Mongol). They must be using German voices. Or perhaps, I just can't find them. Perhaps the files are not using "teutonic" in their names.

Yes u are right i checked and they are using the sounds from the main vanilla and Teutonic have only a few new ones like the Mongols etc.

Damn... it would have been nice having some unit-specific voices, like "Ritterbrüder!!!!", or "Halbruderr!!!!"

Have you tried Xenophponia? Read the opening thread in the forum. It does work on Kingdoms.

Yes, I have already downloaded Xenophobia, and asked permission to modify it and include it into the next release of Rome Medieval mod (for RTW).

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I can't seem to get my IDX extractor to work. All I keep getting is:

    .\xidx.exe -x music voice1 voice2 voice3 sfx
    pause

And that's it. Am I missing something here? Am I doing something wrong? I follow the instuctions here, and on the readme file to the letter, but nothing happen aside from the above text.

If it is a mod you want to extract, and you've put the extractor in the mod's sound-folder, then test to change the extractor to
    Code:
    .\xidx.exe -x music voice sfx

To follow up on Ngugi's suggestion: Unzip the IDX extarctor into the mods data\sounds folder. Then edit the extract_sounds.bat file according to what (sound) idx files are in the mod's data\sounds folder. Zero size ones you can skip.

I tried both of those things, no change at all.

It's almost as if the extractor isn't working right. I don't know why, I've seen countless others on this site that have used it, without much issue.

I know this isn't the problem, since I'm still using Windows XP on this computer, and all the files are where they should be.

I'm rather stumped to be honest.

    No, Python 2.5.4.

    Or try Tellios' IDX extractor.

The only thing I did on XP was put the bat file and the py file(s) in the sounds folder and extracted. I have not tried it on any mod's sound files like Stainless Steel, just vanilla.
