You may have got a virus warning when downloading, but that doesn't mean there was an actual virus. I know my browser often repeatably warns me about the danger of downloading something even when I trust the source I'm downloading it from.
Since you chose to download the "6 Part" option, you want to make sure you have 6 files in the same folder. It doesn't matter where the folder is, so long as ALL 6 files are in the same folder. Then you run the setup file from that folder.
I have to wonder if there is any easier way to make the instructions to download simpler, or if this is just a variation of Murphy's Law
This download is still pissing me off
I downloaded all of the bin files, i when i try to install with it wit hthe exe, the stupid ing thing still WONT INSTALL!!!!!
I cant even find the damn bin files on where to install it because theyre files not folders

OK, since I went trough the Dark Gates of "reformation" (aka refornatted my pc) and reinstalled M2TW+the patch 1.2+Kingdoms 1.5 fresh ready to start again so I am back! now, this is a new start....
I want to install a fresh SS6.2 untill I'll get all the new SS6.3 parts in the future. My dumb and silly question is: do I need to install the SS 6.1 "patch" before the SS6.2 all versions installer? or only the SS6.0 part 1 and part 2 is needed?
( I readed the first post clearly but I want to be 1000% sure not to mess my system again).
Thanks in advance!
You need to place all the .bin files and the .exe in a same folder after that double click on the .exe and it will install automatically where your medieval 2 directory exists.
Look at the filename of the "all versions installer" for your answer and let me know if you find a way to phrase it any more clearly.
Why are you doubting the info? It sais "You will Need: 6.0 Part 1, 6.0 Part 2, 6.2 All Versions Installer" and then that is all that is needed...
Have you renamed any of the files?
No bins, no nothing, only 3 exes and a smaller patch.Alternative Installer - by Sean Cappone
Attention:
Despite the info in the installer you DONT have to create a backup of the folder Medieval II Total War.
This step is completly unnecessary - SS6.3 is 100% modfoldered.
Install the game into Medieval II Total War\mods\ and not into \Medieval II Total War!
part1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M6KDJFNU
part2: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AZCFOM2G
part3: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SSB3K0P7
afterwards patch your installation with
SS6.3_installation_patcher_v.2.5.exe
Both mods are mod-foldered, so you can install them side by side.
Stainless Steel and TATW both install into separate folders so the answer is you can play both.
The bin files should be files, not folders.
How are you running the .exe file? Is it from a folder? From the download bar in your browser? If that file is not in the same location as the five bin files, you will have problems.
What operating system are you using, and what browser? We'll assume you didn't select a specific folder to download the files to, so the files are located somewhere, typically the default download folder on Vista or the particular browser.
If there are any error messages that come up when installing, please either take a screenshot or write out the exact error message.
To take a screenshot: Press the 'Print Screen' button on your keyboard (usually located at the upper right above the arrow keys). Open a graphics program (at the very least MS Paint which comes default on most versions of windows). Press Ctrl-V (or select the menu option to paste) to bring the screenshot into the program. Save the File. Upload as an attachment to your post.
In order to figure out what is going on, we need to know exactly what is happening step-by-step.
The next time you try to run the installer for 6.3, take a screen shot so we can see what you might be clicking on. Note: The mouse cursor does not show up in screen shots, but any 'tool tips' do.
This is why I'll never do tech support from a call center environment ever again...
