Is it just me or have i not been able to attack normal buildings in cities with artillery? I remember being able to do so in rtw, we could set nearly half the city on fire. But in mtw2, i realised that we could only attack the "important" buildings. Artillery can't target normal buildings at all, i mean on purpose and not any stray shot setting a building on fire.

Yeah thats true, after a long war with the venetians against milan i finaly stood at the walls of milan and i had good canons and as a revenge for the backstabbing they did and the war wich lasted very long and cost many many lives and florines and a lot more. i wantd to destroy their capital milan wit hmy cannons as much as possible then take it, exterminate it tear down all the reamaning building then leave it to rebel so i could repaet this a few times so i had my revenge.

PS I would love it if it would be possible to really destroy a city and tear down the walls so the once flourishing city would turn into a pile of rable and bodies and on the campaign map it would turn back into a village

But my question is, can we attack normal buildings with artillery like we used to in rtw?

I think your best bet is to fire flaming projectiles at the units sitting on the walls. It is interesting that you can't target buildings though, guess I never really noticed.

I also wish you could tell your arty to fire at a spot on the map. It would be nice to put a barrage right behind your gate that the enemy will have to push through.

yeah if you get a lucky shot you topply the towers in the city and destroy the roofs on the houses i still like the RTW destruction.
I never tried targeting normal buildings... but those chance shots that take out towers amuse me... When I know I'm going to win without the artillery and I have a lot left I aim at churches... because watching all those spires comes down amuses me... because I'm going to hell... if I start believing in it

All my artillery is too accurate; they never hit anything except enemies or the walls. :(

No. They all are just really good shots for some reason.

Stupid trebuchets... and cannons.

Cannons were spot-on. But my trebuchets and catapults miss most of the time. Screw those wooden machines:disgust:

I never really use normal catapults. Too inaccurate and not as powerful as a trebuchet. For the catapult work I use trebuchets and for anti-personnel I use ballistaes.

Neither are metal ones. I'd rather use a trebuchet that misses some of the time than a cannon which could blow up in my face as I'm using it.

Hey i tried increasing the cannons blast radius till very large. Guess what? Every time it fired, a crew member died in front of the cannon.:laughter:
Hilarious.

Haha. I don't mess with those things. I do change some export_descr_unit stuff though.

Create an immortal unit from there. Give them super stats.:laughter:

Whenever my artillery fires and misses and it hits a building, it just causes a burning hole in it. No toppling towers or anything fun like that. :(
