Questions & Suggestions

then, by Hölgi, i will deliver Hålogaland within a month.

Well, I take it those models are the units that would be needed for the faction? If so, then yes! We can include Hålogaland!

it is at least my suggestion for Hålogaland unique units:

Hersir - Noblemen without the valor, knights without the chivalry, warriors without hesitation. The core of a Jarls Hird, required to provide 20 well eqiped men for the Leidang fleet.
javelins and swords.

Háleygir - Men of the race of Hölgi, the Leidang fleet of Hålogaland.
javelins and axes

Ladir Skutilsveinar - Hersir in service of the Lade Jarl, minor nobles of Trønderlag. These men will hold the line no matter the cost, shield wall ability.
javelins and spears

i also included a possible AOR unit for Þelamörk region:

Telir - Angry men from the mountainous woods of Telemark.
two handed axes with the bent shaft.

i have also knocked of a captain(Landsman) and general(Jarl), though not uploaded as they are not all finished yet.
i presume that the rest of the units would be shared between the various factions.?

Looks amazing, but there is one thing niggling me.

Depending on the this is suppose to represent, but seen from the material this is from 900-1100.
During this time, the city of Uppsala was called Upſala or Upsalir.
Aros is the docktown to Old Uppsala.

*Note* Today, Uppsala is situated in a place called "Aros", as the Cathedral was moved by the pope from Old Uppsala in the 1200.

Other then that, it looks great :D

I also have suggestion from another mod here on this site.

In my opinion Watchtowers are a complete eye-soarer on the campaign map. In the mod: Extended Greek Mod, for Rome. Instead of watchtowers they use "minor settlements" as fow expanders. I've been trying to find a mod for it on M2... but cant seem to find one...
But that would be really nice!

We will instead be using kingdoms "Permanent Stone Fort" feature to represent hill forts. :thumbsup2 We already have some nice models awaiting texturing.

How will religion be represented?
Will there be temples for different Ásatrú Gods, or just one temple representing whole religion?
Also are you going to use agent and general portraits from MTW:VI?
This mod is amazing!

MTV VI's Portraits are awesome, but I'd like still a bit different. You could use them as a base and make them "your own". If you have an artist for that and the motivation of course. I can settle with just VI portraits too.

Just one type of Temple ( Shrine -> Sacred Grove -> Hof -> Large Hof )
We are also going to use the portraits from Viking Invasion :thumbsup2

If Hálogaland is added shouldn't Norðvegr be renamed Vestfold? If not another petty kingdom.

How about the Frisians, Gotlanders, Saxons, Obotrites, Polans and what not will they be added in a later update?

1. Maybe, haven't thought about that :whistling
2. Frisians, Saxons, Obotrites and Polanie will be in the future versions :)

think nothing of it, i am only making a suggestion and backing it up with product rather than long arguments:thumbsup2

though i look forward to come over the mountains with my mustache clad Trønder army and beat those half-danes down south into submission...:viking:

a name change of Nordvegr might me prudent.
i am a bit skeptical of naming them Vestfold, as i am of the impression that the name "Fold" was not used until 15th century. though i might be wrong it is not mentioned in neither Fagerskinna nor Morkinskinna of ca. 1220.
i would think that an appropriate name could be Vikina or Viken as it encompasses the whole area of the Oslofjord including Bohuslen.
{Viken} Vikina
Fagerskinna page: Vik austr 32, (austr i) Vik 58, Vik austr 78, Vikina, Vik 79, Vik austan 94, Vikena 134, (austr i) Vik 147, Vikina 149, Vikenne 150, Vik 151, Vikena 166, Vikena 238, Vikena 239, Vik 244, Vik austr 302, Vik austr 309, Vik austr 310, Vik austr 320, Vik austr 335, Vikena 336, (austr i) Vic 347, Vik austann, Vik austr 355, (austr i) Vik 356, Vikena 357, Vikina 358, Vikrinnar 362, Vikina 363, Vikenne, Vikina, Vik austr 364, (austan i) Vikina, (norðr um) Vikina 370, Vik austr, Vikinne, Vikina 373, (austr i) Vik 374, (ovan i) Vikina 376, Vikinne, Vikina 378
Morkinskinna page: Vikina 9, (austan i) Vikena 20, Vik austr 23, Vikena, Vikinne 39, (austr i) Vic 92, Vikina 93, (austan or) Vic 97, Vic austr 120, Vic austr 182, (austr i) Vikina 205, Vicrinar 216, Vikinni 217, Vicaustr, (austr i) Vic 220, Uicina 225, (austr i) Vic 253, Vic austr, (austr i) Vic 296-298, Vic austr 306, Vikini austr 307, Vikinni 311, Vikini 314, Vic austr 323, (austr i) Vic 364, Vic austr 368, Vicr 369, Vic austr 400, Vic austr 412, Vic austr 414, Vikina austan 417, (austan um) Vikina 418, Vikina 422, (austr i) Vikina 429, Vic austr 430, Vic austr 442, (austr i) Vic 452, (austan or) Vikini 455
caveat: in Morkinskinna there is a bias towards c in Vic, which is rather novel in norse language. there were also a consistent use of v rather than u, which i "corrected". this leads me to believe the grammar were influenced by latin. as such the correct use should be Vik rather than Vic.
here austr i Vik would correspond to Østfold/Bohuslen. perhaps more precise Konghella, though that is purely my speculation.

have you considered the unification of either Norway or Sweden by one of their factions?
something like the Kalmar union of the Teutonic campaign. that by either force of diplomacy on can unite the kingdom, see it change name to Nordvegr or Svearike and then gain access to both factions rosters(unique units). the two original factions could then be used for rebellions and civil war.
probably nothing you should focus on now, but perhaps at a later stage?

Yeah, I had just been thinking of a Kalmar union type script today myself. :laughter:

Hålogaland was a really needed faction, as that northern area of the map was quite vast yet unoccupied.

Just asking but will Iceland or even Greenland be featured in the game like America in vanilla MTW? They would have to survive off trade with the fatherland whilst having mediocre units but cool government advantages like the law-speaker in Iceland.

i wonder if you have had time to implement Haalogaland faction and test it in battle. my computer is total crap and i have not had the opportunity to see them properly in-game, some screenshots would be cool
Not yet sorry :(

Iceland may be in in later versions, Our First version The Baltic Release, only features Scandinavia, Finland, and the Baltics.

I am sorry to spam this thread, but...

;) :thumbsup2

Oh ok. Btw will witches in vanilla MTW become Finnish or Sami witches in this mod that you can kill with Pagan or Christian priests or is this too far-fetched?
