Windows 10 Issues

Anyone having issues with windows 10 and RTW.
I cannot get RTW vanilla to launch at all.

I have the original CD version from 2004 not the steam version.

I've been having issues with ETW vanilla and D/mod, I'll re-install and see if that helps, I'll check my other TW games now.

Curious about if it will work on windows 10 too. I also have the cd version. Wont upgrade to windows 10 until I know if RS II will work.

Same by me. RS stoped working. Win 10 cannt run this. I have 3 different Versions of Rome Total War as CD. Gold Edition/ Platinum Edition on CD and Green Edition from Media MArkt. All 3 i cannt Launch now. All Workarounds are not working at all:-)

Plz if anyone have a Idea post it here. Need Help!

you can run rtw and its mods + expansions on windows 10 you must install the game and mods and run them at least once before using windows 10 so i assume you got the free upgrade just reinstall previous os install and run make sure everything ok and then reupgrade thats what i do i havent had issue with rtw and win 10 for about 6 months

Thank you MasterOfNone - I have replied there.

I did a clean install of Win 10 I did not do a upgrade.
The frustrating part is I am not getting any error message at all.
I double click the RTW vanilla icon and nothing happens.

I did some basic research and it tell me that I need to have directx 9 installed.
Best of my knowledge I have version 11 installed and then tried installing the version that comes with RTW. But it detects a higher version of directx so it cancels the install.

Ignore the Direct x 9 message - I believe it is already in Windows 10. That message came up for me because I had not switched off the anti-alias in the preferences.txt (which needs to be manually copied in as a file I'm told if you have a fresh install of the game or a mod). See OP of link.

I can install fine, but can not run RTW 1.5 at all in win 10 pro. I all so have the 2004 version RTW 1.0. Windows 10pro just dose not want to run the game.

With the putting in the preference folder and file into the main directory of RTW it did not work. As HMonk is having the same issue as me. I did a clean install of WIN 10.

Here is my Dxdiag. Could it be my DirectX version - since it is on 11.
For the record when double clicking the game icon - Nothing happens at all, no error message Nothing.

Still no luck, I get the icon and it dose nothing and still no errors, just goes blank. still checking stuff.

I think I read somewhere that a clean install and first run can have problems generating all the files in the preferences folder (there should be 4). Perhaps if you put those other ones into it? Oh, and you need to do this for the RTW, BI (if installed) and mod pref folder of course...

I put in all four files and still nothing. So I am thinking it could be specific to my RIG and video card setup .

I have two computers one with a clean install of win 10 pro and the other an upgraded win 7 to 10 pro and still having a problem, error tells me I have an out dated program. but both systems run win 10 just fine, just not RTW. and I have an i5 and AMD HD 6670

Lol You bet people with get withdraw. Think I will set one of my systems back to win 7 pro , at least I will still be able to play RS and work on fixing my other one.
