I assume/hope to the gods that this feature coined in Empire and continued in Nappy and I think Shogun II will return. While designed for the musketry era of Empire, playing Rome again has really made me pine for that function when it comes to sarissa or aspis armed phalanxes. A means to easily make a set up formation march forward or back (the turn features been there since Rome at least) automatically, without having to ALT + CLICK (notoriously finicky for me) and hope to match the formation's future place up horizontally.

Minor feature, but if we can get an official word/guarantee that its in, I'll sing praise!

I can't see why they'd remove it, honestly. It matches the Legions perfectly. Imagine how awesome a Roman v Roman battle would be with both Legions advancing evenly on each other.

I also liked the advance button, because it allowed to to advance up my main lines, while fiddling around, erm "maneuvering", other units.

its still in there in shogun 2 and its expansions you just have to click the little arrow though what i want is a new feature of this like as it is now you have to keep on clicking the arrow for your troops to advance to a position far away what i want is that you only have to click the arrow once and your troops will advance until you tell them to stop...dunno if i explained it right but :D

You don't have to click the arrow many times. Just click it and hold the mouse button to order them to advance further away.

that was what i kinda meant by clicking it many times you hold the button for a while but it still takes you some time to keep the button pressed what i want is that you only need to press the button once without the need to hold it and the selected units would move without stopping until you order them to stop kinda like the ships in empire they just kept on going the direction you pointed at them and if you press the arrow they went faster or changed course i want something like this for land troops as well :D

"We decided to remove this feature. We felt that is could unbalance the game and remove imm....screw it - we did it because we hate you with a passion, and we are doing EVERYTHING we can to make you not buy our new game!! It's so fun making you mad!! Indeed, we are all laughing diabolically right now!"

:P

Caused me heart attack

Weird, it seems a lot of people didn't know this existed. I hope there will still be alt-click though.

This feature just made everything far more simple when using large armies. I know there are many of you out there who could micro-manage each man in the units if they wanted too, but I'm not too hot on this. The large generic controls in Empire and Napoleon just made it far more simple (especially when using Darthmod 40 unit armies!!!). That said, in Rome, I just used to group the units, click where I wanted them, and rotate them using hotkeys.

Why fix it if it aint broke?

Unfortunately a lot of people tend to think nothing is broken, including their grammar.

It was valid to bring this up though. A lot of times in the past certain features from previous games were scrapped. This was a good idea and should be considered for Rome II.

That's not a bad Idea ! How come I never thought about that myself xxxxD And yes, I'm a spider :)
Plus rep buddy !

I would just like to add that a button to move sideways would be much appreciated. I hate it when I want to shuffle a unit slightly to the left or right and instead of just tapping a button a few times to adjust, I have to click and drage the mouse.

Good point. I agree.

agree with the sideways shuffle button too :D

You can move to the side or back perfectly fine with alt-click.
