Trying to patch to 1.3

So I have the gold edition of medieval 2...i tried patching med2 to 1.3 but it said I was already at 1.3. then i went to properties of it and it said i had 1.1. then i went to the main menu, then options and in the top right it said i had 1.5...i am trying to join a vanilla hs of 1.3 and cant load the file. how can i get 1.3?

Gold Edition, if installed correctly is Medieval2 version 1.3, Kingdoms 1.4 in dvd set.

yes exactly so why is it saying i dont have 1.3? or maybe i do and it is something else that is preventing me from loading my HS turn that i just joined (i figured out i have this issue when trying to take my turn in IZOB's vanilla 1.3 hs)? i go to load my turn, it goes to the loading screen, and then cycles back to main menu. ideas?

Unlikely. The Hotseat is on Medieval II v1.3, with no mods.
It could be stoping you because you may have changed your own files (by 'change' this can mean editing a text file, to adding a mod over the origional files).

Kingdoms v1.4 needs to be pathced to v1.5 if your playing SS, or KGCM.
medieval II dose not need patch v1.1. But you will need 1.2 and 1.3.

Medieval Gold eddition, with Kingdoms installed. Should update Medieval II to v1.3. Is that right Irishron?

That's right Paradigm - Gold installs to 1.3 automatically barring any problems with the UAC.

@Timur_the_Lame - it will only show 1.5 in Kingdoms. In M2 it should show as 1.3 in the Options menu. Is that the case for you?

1.2 is singleplayer, 1.3 is multiplayer.

Maybe you didnt install Medieval II gold version correctly which would explain why it isnt at v1.03. Have you tried installing the medeival II patch v1.03? The seperate patch.

Original or Gold, Kingdoms will not install without the 1.3 patch installed.

Or the next question would be where did you get the game?

OK. Based from some of your earlier posts elsewhere you have a legitimate copy of M2 - Gold edition it seems. You've lost the case and need a key to install the game per this thread.

Bear in mind that whenever playing hotseat you will need a unique key to play. If you're using a friends key or a key you found off of the 'net then you'll find yourself out of luck if that key is being used by someone else.

You do seem to have some other problems but I would suggest sorting out your key problem before looking too far into other solutions - that would be the most likely of causes for your inability to join hotseat games. Good luck!

well i have a key (got that figured out). and i am in quite a few hotseats, but none of them are vanilla. im in a couple SS, a KGCM, a CCM2, a retrofit, etc. Just no vanilla. and it says i have 1.2 not 1.3 in the top corner, even tho i re-installed everything. So I dont understand what the issue can be. and when i go to patch to 1.3, it says i already have it so i cant patch it...so im kind of lost

It can be these things:
1. A bad install.
2. A bad cd-key.
3.Copy protection nemad SecuRom flagged something.

Also, just to be sure, you're not using a CD key that starts with 1111 and ends with 1111 are you?

No im not, just a normal cd key with the disks and...what do you mean OS? I have XP if thats what u mean?

There should be no funny business with XP.

Where did you get the key? Did you register the Gold Edition with this key? Have you tried the official online multiplayer with it?

I got the key from a friend...I am at college and my case is at home. So i couldn't use my key. maybe that is the issue. i haven't tried online with it

That could be the problem. If the key is already showing up someplace it can cause these problems. Could you have someone pop the case open and email you the key?

Me and my cousin are trying to play a hotseat compaign of Broken Cresent (which is an MTW mod, not yet ported over the Kingdoms) by e-mailling the save game file back and forth.

Yet on his computer (not the Gold Edition, but separately purchased MTWII & Kingdoms on Vista) we see 1.03 on the OPTIONS screen, yet on mine (using Windows 7) we only see v1.02

Thus save game file from his computer will not load on mine.

Any suggestions out there?

Disable the UAC, then check the version. It has to be 1.03 for Kingdoms to install.

Can you try to download and install the standalone 1.03 patch for MTWII?
