The Creative Assembly have just released the system specs for Total War: Shogun 2. Read on to find out if Shogun II: Total War will run on your PC.

And yet, it will probably still stutter along at 15 FPS on systems that exceed the recommended specs.

Abspara, is your graphics card overheating? Mine used to do that all the time, found out my card was running hot. Increased airflow and now everything runs beautifully.

i gotta radeon 9200 pro (0x5960) is that good enough cause i got no idea

I can run Empire maxed out at 40-60 fps so i shouldn't have any issues with shogun.

Been peeking at those minimum requirements:

I'm no techie but they seem 'extremely minimum' to me. I thought Win7 required 2gig ram just to get the OS show on the road??.Players capable of playing a decent game with everything on low ??

Extra bit; also wondering why game makers don't release videos showing 'this is what you get on min requirements'

Because that would look awful. Try setting all of your ingame settings to low (including shaders) and play a battle. That pretty much causes headaches.

Actually Windows 7 is extremely good at managing memory.
I even had it installed on my oooold laptop with 256MB RAM and it worked like a charm.
So that stereotype is wrong.

Aye, true enough the game probably be a headache job. But I'm looking at things from the buyers perspective really, the game makers make the product and are seeking our pennies, so it would save folks from 'taking a gamble' with their money if they could actually see "what they are going to get" playing on minimum requirements.

Maybe thats why game makers don't release such videos so as to leave us, the buying public, clueless as to what to expect.

This hasn't really been a problem in the gaming industry.
People who are unsure about how it's going to look will just have to wait until some other player shows them or until a demo comes out.

I don't get why everybody is so surprised about the game being 20GB's big.

Is 20GB meant to be big? On my 3 year old PC I still have 529GB of space remaining and I'm not using any external drive or anything...Aren't the memory drives reasonably cheap now anyway?

20 GB is bigger than most games but most large games are 15 gb plus now.

Hopefully i will be able to max out shogun.

When a game is so damn big it makes it harder for people with lower specs (particularly processors) to load up properly and enjoy the game...

Not as much of a surprise but more of a pain.

I don't see the relation. But then again, I'm no expert.

Im glad they released the specs. My computer should be able to max out the settings, i7 pro 2.66 and a 9800GT (not the best), and 4GB.

Processor actually has little to do with loading a game, hard disk's speed has more relation to that. And Napoleon is a 22GB download, empire was like 17? So I don't see whats the big thing with 20GB.

And I couldn't max out Napoleon with a HD5850, C2Q Q9550 3.1 GHz I ain't maxing this out :P.

They should have a max settings specs as well. Or is recommended max? Anyone know?

Maybe you will.

My machine is much more powerful than yours, and I couldn't max it out either. Some of my friends however, have slower rigs than the one you listed, but could pretty much max it out on almost all usual resolutions.

E:TW and to a lesser extent N:TW seemed really dinky and inconsistent, when it comes to performance.

Who knows, if S2 improves as much as N:TW did from E:TW, you might get further down the settings than you'd think.
