Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

Well this is out of the blue. I am encourged to hear that you are teaming up with Slitherine. I look forward to hearing more about this new project.

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

Ooh, i wonder how this will work out..

Oh yeah, if i may ask, Who is the guy making your concept art, it's really great.

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

Hope this takes 1.5-->2 yrs to make, it looks promising already! :) :)
*cough* *cough* different looking soldiers *cough* *cough*

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

Wow.. That is so amazing! I've always been really interested in the Napoleonic period and I would've loved to have used The Lordz modification for Rome: Total War..

I can't wait to see what it'll be.. I can really recommend that you look at Imperial Glory and Cossacks II for inspiration! Cossacks II is a very underrated game (and it has its flaws), but it also has some good points (such as the lethality indicator when you prepare to fire) that I would've liked to have seen in games like the Total War series..

Keep us informed! :thumbsup2

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

Excellent. I wish you luck in your first serious gaming endeavor. All you Total War mods were of high calibre and quality, I sincerely hope you can transfer that quality to games. And with the support of a good community, I forsee some of the best, most beautiful and most historically accurate war-games to date.

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

am i dreaming? modders creating a commercial game! imagine the possibilities!
good luck! napoleonic tw was the first mod i ever downloaded for mtwvi.

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

It's not every day that a group of modders become game devs. Like with Trauma Studios, the guys who made Desert Combat, good luck on your game.

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

We use the Arcane engine, that does not mean the new game will be a TW or Arcane Legion clone. Just like the Quake or Torque engine provides very different games. We are not modding, but writing a new game and programming a fitting game structure. That will look and play totally different.

All we can tell you at this stage is that the new game we are developing, will be a historical strategy game set during the Napoleonic Wars. It will support single-player and multi-player battles and have a campaign, more focused on military micro-management.

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

One suggestion, there is this other game called histwar or something like that, which (as I've read) supports tens of thousands (even hundreds of thousands) of soldiers on the map without lag, maybe you can do the same, ALOT of soldiers on the map would be amazing, you don't have to reach hundreds of thousands, but atleast tens of thousands...
So what do you think?

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

I will not confirm anything at this stage, but we are focussing on grand Napoleonic strategy and battles, that should be a hint.;)

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

That's the way to go! :thumbsup2

Anyways, it's better that you guys are using Arcane's engine, because that will save up huge loads of time...making an engine from scratch will delay your release by a huge amount of time.

Good Luck.

Has the site gone down? I cant get into it :(

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

This sounds relay great can't wait to see what happens!:thumbsup2

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

The wallpapers surely kick asses.

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

Hope the project goes well! I like Slitherine because I remember when going on their forums a couple of years ago (around the time Spartan came out) the developers where very approachable and open, which i thought was pretty cool.

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

I can only imagine what results the genious of TheLordz unconstrained by enginelimits of the TW series may wield!
The only tangible thing you've given us till now, the concept art already reeks of greatness.
Good luck with this. I hope you'll keep us up to date here on TWC!

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

One thing for this game I deeply hope; that the strategy and tactics will not be separated from one another; then the flow of battle an manouvres will be more realistic and not just set piece battle episodes between risk style play

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

Create a challenging AI and I will love you forever:smile:

Re: The Lordz New Project Released!

My suggestion: Analyze the actual tactics and command style of each notable general of the period, and then program that style into an AI, obviously either Napoleon or Wellington would be the hardest. I'm more inclined for Wellington as the hardest to beat, Napoleon right after that, as Wellington kicked Napoleon's can. It's also my British pride talking. You could choose which general the AI acts like, so it would actually be like YOU are pitting your wits and troops against History's greatest!
