Personally, i wouldn't say Society's collapsing at all. Rather, it's just evolving, though it remains at a constant base line of being quite for most people.
As a Christian conservative with generally the same views as Kaits (though Aggy and I disagree almost 9/10 ) I'd say they are quite fixed. It's only in more modern times (enlightenment era, I suppose) that they began to become unfixed in some people's eyes.

Because in modern society there is no such thing as wrong, it only depends on how you "feel" about something. Ultimately it means that nobody's going to care about much of anything anymore, anarchy will run rampant, animals will riot, convicts will escape from the zoo, and we're all going to die.
and Aggy only thinks society is collapsing because he doesn't recognize any other society but his own.
In Aggy's defense, this is natural from a conservative point of view. In a way, you only recognize your own society by promoting whatever liberal ideal (I'm assuming liberal). Your ideal society (as far as I can tell from previous discussions) is that everybody does what makes them happy without hurting anybody else, which is definitely a far cry from Aggy's. One can't easily say that they recognize any society unless they're completely apathetic to world events.

I disagree that the concept is a modern one. Sophistic philosophy from 5th century Athens is all about is there a natural right or wrong, or is it merely a human construction. Indeed there is discussion in Antigone whether or not the law of gods is a natural law that supercedes the law of man. This philosophy is where we get survival of the fittest.
Plato said:
for by the rule of nature, to suffer injustice is the greater disgrace because the greater evil; but conventionally, to do evil is the more disgraceful... vulgar notions of right, which are not natural, but only conventional. Convention and nature are generally at variance with one another
Protagoras said that man is the measure of all things, by which he meant that any impression a person receives is also securely true. From this it follows that the same thing both is and is not the case, and is bad and good and all other contradictories, because it often happens that something can appear beautiful to one lot of people and the opposite to another lot, but on Protagoras' view it is what appears to anyone that is the measure.

That post wasn't meant to be taken seriously (animals rioting, convicts escaping from the zoo ) but assume that I meant it was popularized in more modern times.
Oh, like how the Russian Empire was the most stable country on earth, and because of its founding in Theocracy it has survived to this day as a world power?
when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. (Luke 6:20–22)
What is this world, but a passing instant, compared to the glory of heaven? This world is not our home, we are foreigners in this lost and vile land, why grow so attached to it? Why care for this life, when there is salvation and union with God? Those who died under communism for their faith gained the martyr's crown. Those priests who were dragged through the streets by their beards, strangled with their crosses, and executed in all manner of vile ways will surely be remembered by our Lord for their sacrifice. Glory to them, I only wish I had their strength of faith.
This I agree with. But they're doing it, just for clarification, to influence politicians' behaviors. That's the way this country's political system works, or at least, should work; If many people want it, their representatives have to "want" it too.
Strange, because really all they're doing is annoying most politicians, not influencing them. Didn't you hear about the ones who heckled Obama at his last rally? That's not the way to get an ear.
I know. The thing is, though, people feel sorry for them, but that's all they can afford to do is show compassion. Most people nowadays can't afford to give money to charity if it means falling behind on their bills.
Even if that were true (the majority part - I'm sure there are a few people who aren't able to donate freely, but it's more likely that they're the ones receiving the donations than being the ones pressed into giving them), like I said, time is free. So are old things that you don't use anymore, it doesn't necessarily have to be a donation of money. Besides, aren't you a socialist? They shouldn't be allowed to hoard up their own possessions, wealth, savings, etc. anyway, everything should be going into the collective. By the way, charitable donations are tax-deductible. Therefore, it's much easier to afford.
That there are people in OWS who are just in it for the controversy? Yes, I know that. I'm saying it's not the majority.
Wrong. The BILL OF RIGHTS (not the Constitution) provides for peaceful (PEACEFUL) demonstrations on public land. University grounds aren't public land because most universities are private.
No, they were blocking traffic, that's what they were arrested for. And the lady didn't do anything, she was simply standing there. This is the same incident as in that video where she was standing behind an orange-colored barricade, turned to the side, and got sprayed in the face by a cop.
The article also says that there were arrests made for disorderly conduct. Either way, it's a perfectly fair accusation to be arrested for blocking traffic, and if the lady was "just standing there" and not moving out of the way when she was warned to do so, then the police had the right to use force to get her to move.
Also, I think this deserves to be posted here, since it's become such a meme lately:
Italians are losing their homes, are in a double-dip recession, and have two highly corrupt political parties which are constantly at each other's throats?
Losing homes? Yes.
Double-dip recession? Yes, actually large parts of the EU are. Strangely enough, we're not actually in a double-dip recession at the moment, we're still in the single dip. Whether or not we will go into a double-dip is actually a very heated issue at the moment between a lot of economists or even simple forum idiots like us.
As for political parties, we have two at each others' throats, but the Italians have several at each others' throats since the entire Berlusconi fiasco began.
You mentioned something about the movement being infiltrated by societal undesirables, I thought this was what you meant since (according to that article) the protests have been endorsed by neo-Nazis, Communists, and Islamists.
From the fires started by protestors. As for not being able to see with his eyes covered, that's exactly the point. A - a mask covering his mouth would not protect him from pepper spray or tear gas (at least not the corneal effects that give it its name) though it might protect him from smoke inhalation. B - If he were wearing a mask to protect his eyes he would not be able to see. Therefore, the masks are more likely in use to conceal identity, not unlike those ridiculous Guy Fawkes masks Anon uses, many of which have actually been seen at Occupy riots (I'll call them what they are). I always found that ironic, considering the actual Guy Fawkes would've had all the world plunged into a theocracy under the heel of the Pope, which seems the polar opposite of everything OWS and Anon stands for, but I digress.
They're part of the Occupy movement; the Italian Occupy movement. So they're not related to the American ones, nor are they caused by them. Like the Tunisian and Egyptian revolutions.
They were the result of inspiration by the American Occupy movement, just the same as Egypt's revolution was inspired by Tunisia's. They didn't develop independently, though the feelings may have existed before the movement actually began, so they must be linked. I say again, the only reason they're different is because you don't want to be associated with the violence that's been taking place in the Roman protests.
I wasn't calling the policeman a douche. I was making an analogy.
Because prayers for the intercession of Saints is ebil! Accept Jesus as your savior and stop taking part in the Eucharist! Stop worshiping Mary! rabblerabblerabblerabble

How could I forget that Christianity for the first 1400 years was wrong and it wasn't until the great Protestant leaders came around that the Holy Spirit inhabited their (many hundreds of) churches! Silly me!
No, we tried our best to return to what the bible said. Also, don't forget that we broke from CATHOLICISM, which was at the time insanely corrupt (and IMO still is).
Look at Catholicism - why does some condescending dude in a booth forgive you or not forgive you of sin? Why do you have to perform rituals to be a Christian? Why can't ordinary people read the Bible (I know they can now, just at the time)?
Christianity was founded by Jesus to show God's LOVE and his new covenant. Nowhere in the Bible does it say to do any of what Catholics say to do. So, to control the people through religion, Rome modified the Church to suit its own needs, and in doing so made a religion that showed the Love of God even LESS than Judaism.
This is why Church and State should be separate - so that the State doesn't change the Church for its own good.

The Apostolic Church as I meant it was not the Roman Catholic Church (although it certainly is an apostolic church - meaning that it can trace the ordination of its bishops back to the apostles) but the Orthodox Catholic Church.

Priests are not condescending, and they do not forgive you of your sins. Only God forgives you of your sins, and you confess them through the priest. This was common in early Christianity, but was very often done to the entire congregation. Christ certainly encouraged this, as did his apostles.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:16)
In confessing our sins to eachother, we are healed. This is why we confess our sins to the priest, a pious servant of God. Very biblical.
Why do you have to perform rituals to be a Christian?
Rituals have always been performed by the people of God, beginning with the Hebrews. Your very worship services are "rituals." How do you define that? Would a person not want to engage in ritual to honor our Lord?
Christianity was founded by Jesus to show God's LOVE and his new covenant.
This might be nitpicking, and please forgive me if it is, but our faith was never really "founded", it has been everpresent with God. It was never "invented" or "created" or "founded."

Is the good word of Christ more weak than the state? It seems to me that such a powerful thing will triumph over all. May the Church influence the state and lead it to moral uprightness and goodstanding in front of our Lord! The spiritual will always have victory over the temporal if offered with a pure heart and the right intentions.
Sorry if I'm intense, this is my passion, just like Fred loves the American Civil War, and Gunny the Prussians, and Kip the television, but I rarely get to talk about it.

See above, and it doesn't say you HAVE to confess to be forgiven, only that it helps. We have confession too, just to everybody instead of to the priest.

I get that, but it doesn't say you HAVE to do anything but believe and love God to get to Heaven.

Council of Nicaea, they took out any books that didn't agree with the state philosophy. In addition, the medieval catholic church increased its own power through the states of Europe to the point where if the Pope didn't like you, you were pretty much dead.
More recently, the papacy agreed with the atheists about evolution to save its own skin because people in Europe were leaving Catholicism.

See above, and that's only if your church leaders are moral and totally uncorrupted, which is about impossible.

You ask a similar question every time we make an Old Guard in-joke. You'll just have to stick around long enough for us to actually get to know you better, Batman

Hello Total War Center.
My name is Alex. I am here since 2015 year. And today I wanted to talk a little about one fantasy universe which hadn't any realizations on the engines of big TW games.
