Prometheus (2012) The Alien Prequel.

Prometheus (2012) The Alien Prequel.

This movie makes me more and more excited with everything I see about it. I'm already looking forward to this more than DarkKnight Rises ( great summer movie season with those two and Avengers). Personally I don't mind the ancient aliens seeding concept, because it's clearly fiction and I don't bother with History Channel anymore except for American Pickers, so I don't endure that Alien BS. Even so, I feel like Ridley Scott has something cooler up his sleeve than that, maybe like the signals left are actually directions so the Space Jockey race can warn us about Xenomorphs deep inside Earth or something. Plus Michael Fassbinder. Everything he's in is good, end of story. If it had Michael Sheen too then it would already have the Best Pic Oscar locked down

I'm confident they're separate from the movie. For me it wouldn't make much sense to have these as part of the movie because it doesn't fit the overall story. They seem more of a form of entertainment to give us the context of the movie.

Are these virals part of the movie itself or are they just some intricate advertising campaign?

Def viral. Ridley scott has hinted that guy pierces character will be in the film but much much much much older than he is in the ted talk.

Also lol @ that if you explore the Weyland Industries site, under the David section it says he's powered by "Verizon FIOS". lol.

I've found a 13 minute long, super slow motion version of the first trailer. You'll notice a lot of things you didn't the first or dozenth time you watched the original.

EDIT: Has anyone recognized the similarities between the music used in the first Prometheus trailer (not the teaser) and the original Alien trailer?

It has that same weird screaming noise.

You know I was wondering what the deal was with that noise when I first watched the trailer, it seemed familiar. I re watched the first 3 movies to see if it was a theme. If I remember correctly its not in any of the first 3 films. Then for some random reason I ended up watching that first trailer, I think because I wanted to see the change over time in film trailers & how they're made.

Yeah, that's the difference between Hollywood then and now. It's something I don't like. What's the point in going to see most movies if you already know what happens? It's one reason why after I saw the Avatar trailers I knew it was going to be a mediocre movie. They showed pretty much the entire story and it took away basically all of the mystery and interest for me. I guess I could say it was a good thing though, because I wasn't as disappointed as I would have been if I didn't see the trailers.

This is one reason why I think teaser trailers are good. They show just enough but not too much to overexpose the movie's story and any spoilers. For some movies it doesn't matter so much, like with comedies or other movies where the story and spoilers aren't very important, but with some movies, like Prometheus, trailers can weaken interest and surprise.

All that being said, I'm still very much interested in this movie. Even though I know the basic plot, I'm more interested in what they do with the ideas than the ideas themselves.

EDIT: Speaking of Alien, I just made this.

I liked all of the Aliens series movies with Aliens being my favorite. Even the 3rd and 4th movie were very enjoyable and didnt conflict with the previous movies keeping the universe of the movie as solid as any other good sci-fi.

The only good Alien film are Alien and Aliens, 3 was awefull and 4 was barely watchable.
And the AVPs are horrifically bad.

 me, this is going to be a splendid :wub:ing movie

EDIT: The plot seems fairly simple, Weyland Corporation receives intel about some hidden message all over human history, they pin-point the location on their star map, send a team of scientists, the scientists find more than they can swallow, enter Space Jockey dudes, they are NOT amused, send in some slimy creatures to please new concept creature design fans , and then the last dark-haired female survivor gets face-hugged at the end.

The End.

I saw the trailer for this when I saw Hunger Games, didn't seem like a prequel to alien from what it shows? Was confused.

Scott has said it's not a prequel but that it's a story set in the same universe. Personally, I don't care if it's a prequel or not. It's semantics to me. As long as the movie is good then it doesn't matter to me.

I think at this point I'll try to avoid anymore trailers or sneak peeks. I don't want to see too much about the film because then my response to seeing stuff like the aliens for the first time will not be as significant.

Well, yep, there's the whole plot, and again, the overused idea that aliens were on earth, bleh bleh etc.

I saw the first ten seconds and decided to shut it off, right now it's just better to wait for the movie.
I agree. Some trailers really ruin the movie experience. The last time Ive had this problem was with that Daniel Craig movie, Dream House, the trailer spoiled 80% of the movie.
