I am playing as the Ottoman Empire, a big stack of Maratha troops invaded Crimean (my protectorate) town but not its capital (yet). However I can't seem to assault the town, probably because crimea is my ally. However it is very dangerous to leave the big stack there, they might take the Crimean capital or even invade my provinces. Any idea how to handle this?

Ask millitary access for 5 turns. Offer something in return (a technology or money). Once you have millitary access you can attack the Maratha stack and destroy it. Make sure you leave Crimea after 5 turns thoug!

I do have mil access. I can send my troops to the region, but I can't assault crimean towns and ports occupied by maratha. So I can't attac the stack while theyre still in the town

Place a few stacks around the town and port.
If the Maratha decides to move, you can intercept them.

Yes but that would tie a big amount of my troops there, which might be undesirable considering I'm in a war. In my opinion this is an unnecessary and unrealistic difficulty. But your proposal seems to be the only way to handle this, or sending the troops to other areas and risk them taking Crimea (definitely) and even some of my own regions (possibly)

Just let some of your troops camp near the region capital, that way when the Marathas decide to attack you can help your allies out. No need for multiple armies
