As i said before BAI in beta version 6.8 part 6 was better , why nobody pay attention for it ?
In part 6 of beta version 6.8 , enemy's line infantries went straightly , and when they approached to my infantries they began to shoot immediately it was greatfull!! then in next parts 7,8 of beta 6.8 even in full 6.8, BAI became worse , when BAI infantries approach to my infantries, they suddenly turn to left or right , and begin to shoot angularly. And about naval battles when i started battles in version 6with one 122cannon ship vs the same ship of BAI .Enemy ship made some maneuvers , but in the next version it doesnt make any movements
And Did you see such behaviours of BAI ?

I played as Poland vs United Provinces . I played in normal difficulty
Sorry in my english

Darth DID reply to your observation (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?p=8721729#post8721729), stating that version 6 and version 8 have no adjustments to the BAI, ie. he only modified the Campaign AI after version 6. Because of this, the irregularities you've mentioned could not have possibly been caused by version 8 (as opposed to version 6).

My guess is that the "crappy AI" you're experiencing is either simply a statistical outlier in terms of specific battles (maybe the BAI algorithm for that battle drew a bad random number or something), or the result of an external mod affecting Darth's BAI which you installed after version 6.

I'm telling you that BAI seems to get worse and worse. Maybe it does need those extra bonuses for extra fun and extra casualties to my side.

Yeah it's probably us who have grown into superior generals to BAI.

Wait, wait. The AI formed that noob square thing? Or is that you? Ive definitely never seen that. Although I probaly havent put as much time into the game as you.

I would suggest maybe a clean install of the game as well as the mod. Maybe something got broke along the way...

Auto-connected to Multiplayer ?
May be you mean "Drop-in" function ?
If so, its in NTW only not in ETW.

The AI...thinking..... Gentlemen i believe that we have just revolutionised the entire world of artificial intelligence.

Foultrajik
I was so surprised , i have never seen such behaviour of AI , i played as Poland vs United Provinces (AI), i started quick late battle by random units , you can see this in game , but your enemy must be United Provinces faction

I just tried it... and im a dumbass. :)

Curiousity got the better of me. Well, I suppose this is a Darth 'easter egg' or something. Was fun.

Its obviously scripted. Thats all I have to say, and thats more than enough.

Nothing has been scripted into DarthMod, we regard that as cheating.

Well, Ill take your word for it. But one faction does a noobsquare... the rest do the usual thing. It certainly looks scripted.

IIRC I saw this in a promotion video from CA before the launch of ETW, chapter 'improved AI'.
Just searched for the movie, seems to be removed from the official homepage, but I found it here: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/57285
Not very well visible, but the huge army-square can be seen at 2:43 or 2:44

This square is a 'special tactic' the AI uses (never seen it though) when you deploy a lot of cavalry against them.
CA apparently thought this makes the AI smart. (I think it sucks a lot).

I hope I brought some clarity about this (definitely not caused by DM!!)

Ehm. Now I don't follow. Can't the AI use square formations?
I think they leap into a square formation as soon as there are cavalry around. Though not as huge. Normal size as the Player square.

Yes but they are not talking about square formation but the Ai setting his army up as a square. Look at the piuctures in above posts.

Thanks man. Really had me wondering because I never seen it before... at least that I can remember.

From my experience it seems possible, that Darthmod BAI is somehow suppressed, when you first play scenario and then decide to play custom land battle. Here is easily repeatable experiment: go to scenarios, pick the first one, click continue, but go back from the army setup screen and choose instead custom land battle (early time, normal difficulty - notice that the difficulty defaulted to easy, as if it is somehow affected by your previous choice of scenario). Pick all cavalry for Austrian army (I wanted to see the noob square aka 'advanced AI tactics' :)) and 12 line infantry units for Bavarian. When you reach the deployment, you will see Bavarian army in 12 strange columns, perhaps 15 men wide, marching towards you. Now exit ETW to Darthmod launcher and do the same, except this time just go right to the custom battle (notice the difficulty remains normal) and after you pick the same choices and reach deployment, you will see Bavarians in totally normal line formation. Strange, isn't it? I think there is some kind of revival of old evil vanilla AI, if you try the scenarios. It definitely does not affect everything, but BAI is probably zombified to pre-Darth era.

Hope this helps.
