I really appreciate them :-) There are funny moments as well.

Yeah nice commentating by the both of you! I appreciate the work you're putting into this.

They also have linked all your replays at the Tosa cup replay page http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/media.php?do=category&cid=5

They all seem to get embedded there whether it's you or Azure commentating, so I just refresh that page.

Ah right sorry for maybe being insensitive it just seemed a weird choice

just uploaded like four new game so check them out :)

Oda, what did you watch? how many units do you consider to be spam? (Count the money spent on matchlocks btw..)
And: Using matchlocks doesn't make you a noob in anyway. To be more precise: n00bs don't know how to use matchlocks.
It would be appreciated, if you critizised in a more polite manner (and after thinking about the matter you want to talk or vent about)

Cheers, Lance

It doesn't matter if people so called spam because if your a good player you will learn to play against like you would against catapults so let stay on topic hey ;)

The only way to play against mass matchlock/bow spam, is spamming mass matchlock/bows yourself. So ofc there is a counter, duh, but it's both boring and unhistorical playing in such a way. Just vetting up such an army must be a pain in the ass for any self-respecting, skilled player.

But like I said, they can prove their skill by playing me 1on1, as long as there is a cap on matchlocks and bow-cav.

Or by engaging them in melee.

You know, with your melee troops and cavalry.

I heard they were good at that.

Wrong :)

If he just throws in a few cheap-ass Yari Ashigaru, he can hold off both your inf and cav while shooting them to bits with upgraded rapid fire matchlock monks. Your troops will flee in no time from all the missile fire and casualties, and his take no morale damage whatsoever. Cool stuff, isn't it?

I'm assuming you are thinking of a very specific scenario. You've lined up your archers and matchlocks, and the opponent just blindly charges them. You toss your throwaway Ashigaru at the enemy and it ties them up long enough for your bows/matchlocks to make mincemeat out of them.

Yeah sure, that would work in that scenario. And is in fact what most people would do. I can chalk up a lot of wins to just that.

But this game has the potential to be far more complicated than that, you and I both know this. You should know better than to simply dismiss an army composition as unbeatable.

yeah guns arn't that hard to beat you just have out macro your opponent and make him forget about one of his flanks by doing lot on the other :L

LOL if guns were not hard to beat they wouldnt be a must have in all the top players builds.

It is not "unbeatable", but any army composition that would counter it would be too weak to stand against any other army composition. So beating bow/matchlock spam with playing bow/matchlock spam yourself, is the only option.

Matchlock spam is beatable on a very rough (no clear line of sight) and/or open terrain. You can easily beat it by surrounding and outflanking it with a mass meele/cav army. I have won a lot of games like this, but it's not possible on a open, forest-map like lowlands. And especially not if the opponent red-line camps (which every matchlock spammer does).

@bushranger:
exactly. well said.

I am really getting extremely annoyed that I have to delete at least 10 posts a day in this forum because of flaming and insults. If you want to measure, do it somewhere else. Or else.
