So i started a new RTI cpt 4 campaign to see the effects of the new patch and ive been quite surprised, first of all i went about 35 turns without a single war, even the barbary states asked for peace...

The biggest plus after the new patch is that the big three (GB,France,Spain) actually support their colonies in the other theaters, and GB has gone a step beyond that, they are now the biggest superpower in my game (which they always should have been) they have regions in all three theaters and have actually gained ground in india but the biggest shock was this...

Plus take a look at the campaign map...

This is the first time ive seen all of the german states (wurtenburg, westphalia, etc) be taken over :thumbsup2

and then theres this... backstory: i laid siege to the plains nations only region and decided to wait till they surrendered, i didnt think they would cuz they have a full stack army in their capitol so when i hit end turn and it came to them they sallied forth to fight, i smashed them with a heroic victory and right after i got this offer...

So has anyone else seen GB take gibralter, or the Ottomans sack moscow or prussia taking tripoli for that matter?

One of the greatest earlier disappointments for me was that the "big 3" didn't support their colonies. I believe that they should be some of the funnest factions to play as in that era. But it was WAY too easy to conquer the AI's colonies. It is really disappointing to be playing as the Brits and build up to conquer New France, only to find Quebec is defended by 3 native mercenaries with no naval support in sight.

I haven't tried a post-1.4 campaign yet (my lappy has lots of trouble with Empire) but hopefully I can get a new desktop and play a post-1.4 campaign. Looks like CA has done a LOT of work and posts like this make me really want that new rig to play Empire!

There`s no doubt that CAI is supremely better than it was. You have to work at taking and holding anything in the game now and it is logical in most stuff like diplomacy. I was beginning to think that CA were incapable of making a passing cross-theatre AI, but once they freed the AI programmer from his underground prison things changed.

Actually, I have seen Prussia take Tripoli in v1.3. They did it early in the campaign, after that I assume they ran out of resources and got run over by Poland. I'm glad to see that the Ottomans at last seem to be able to cross their land bridge.

I´ve seen Georgia take Algiers lol.

And I too had a protectorate offer playing as France, from Savoy, once they had 1 turn to surrender, sallied forth and lost. Idiotic? Not necessarily... If you´re hard pressed, letting them become a protectorate spares you the trouble of having to garrison your conquest.

Got some nice peace offers... After gettin Brusseles as UK, Spain offered me white peace, and after I got Quebec and Montreal, even despite having -300 relations ,the french too agreed for peace, for free :thumbsup2

CAI is quite good now. Fix the BAI ASAP and we´ll have a truly decent game.

My favourite new development is how factions at war with you, the player, will now ally together and form coalitions. I had Sweden, the Ottomans and Persia all allied and attacking me on different fronts.

I had Prussia declare war on me then a turn later drop a full stack of troops in america. They split their army into 3 stacks and blitzed 3 of my undefended cities. I had to pull back my armies and defeat them and it has ruined my economy since.

Have you tried giving regions to people? They leave them undefended...

I havent been able to offer' another nation the chance to become a protectorate. I didnt see it- Is it only that they ask?

I would like to see them implement- another faction- actually use diplomacy and tell you they want to build an empire by war and want to partner with your nation.
this of course after you have proven your military prowess either defending from or attacking a common enemy.

I have to say that the difficulty of the game has been massively ramped up. Playing RTI episode 3 and Britain just keeps on coming with small stacks of troops. They also constantly seem to be raiding my ports and farms which is quite annoying but good to see the AI playing a war of attrition. I have the better armies outright, but they just have so many more resources and manpower at their disposal, they can afford to throw away men and money, I can't.

Well done CA on patch 1.4, it has truly made the game epic.

What do India and the Americas look like?

GB starts with Gibraltar, and in 1.3 they sometimes successfully manage to take Spain, and at one point they wipe Spain out because their Italian territories had fallen. I have never seen them expand south, though.

Agreed. Now if they'll only free the BAI programmer...

Maybe if you'd actually play E;tw once in a while, then you'd have known that Gibraltar is Spanish at start ;)

Not in the RTI Chapter 4 campaign, which starts with Gibraltar in British hands as it was historically (and with some British territory in India too).

I dont think they started with Gibraltar but if they did spain took right away cuz when i first noticed that GB took Morocco i looked at the area and GB didnt have Gibraltar then, but yeah GB starts with 2 regions in India but with the new patch they actually gain ground there instead of loosing to the Marathas

Then theres this.... Pol-Lith is a protectorate of Genoa???

but then France sacked Genoa including that little island they start with...

Then Spain pushed GB back but GB snuck an army behind Spains defenses and sacked Madrid :laughter:

Woah, GB starts with two regions in India? Jesus they were taken fast in my game. I never even saw em. I am using IS 2.1b though, so that could be why.

Thanks BDIZZLE. This has reinterested me in the game! Cant wait till Native American DLC comes out!

Bad news, my game freezes on Prussias turn every time and ive tried reloading several save games and it still happens, well it was fun while it lasted, i never even fought a single european army the whole campaign only the Cherokee Iroquois and Pueblo Nations...

Well heres a final look at that GC...
