Am I the only one who didn't like the opening ceremony to me it was boring and pretentious personally I think that Sydney had by far the best since we actually included jokes and made fun of our own culture with the lawnmower ballet. We had an irreverence that is sorely missing from the Beijing games.

I think it's bullcrap that it takes a dozen men to win a single medal in basketball, while one man can compete for like 9 medals in swimming.

Team sports should award multiple medals, one per player on the team.

Great opening ceremony. Excellent all-round, but my favourite part were the 29 firework footprints at the start. Not sure why, but I really liked them.

Btw, was anyone else awestruck by the Jordanian flagbearer? She is incredibly beautiful!


EDIT: yea the amount of medals you can get for swimming is ridiculous. Its also ridiculous to include both softball and baseball. Its practically the same sport!

shooting is a quite strong program in China. The female 10 m shooting defeat was an upset by Czech player. Chinese player was the favorite (she won in 04), but finished only 5th I think. congrats to that Czech player, she won the first gold of the entire Olympic.
