Currently, he's king, but he's not here! :( He was a pretty good general when he left (though somehow, high in chivalry, with him being the Longshanks and all), and my prince is both weaker and older than him.

If you have less than 6 settlements he will return after at least 10 turns, if you have more then he will return after at least 20 turns.

i thought it was pretty random at first, so that it would simulate a "HOLY CRAP WHEN WILL EDWARD COME BACK??" kind of feel

He can also be killed on the crusade, but I have never tried that.

The computer generates a random number between 1 and 10. If it is 9 or 10 he will die. So there is a 20% chance that he will die. You will get a general with less units if Edward died while being on a crusade.

and he comes back being a Super-Duper general

with alot of good traits...
And a lot of good Crusader units, too... I've only gotten as far as his return when playing as Scotland, but I could have sworn my spy in London saw a couple of Templars in his army the very turn Edward returned.

Indeed, Edward has templar seargents and crossbowmen as well as templar knights in his army. What would be cool is an in game showdown between Edward's army and William Wallace's army. Who would win?

Dunno who would win the battle but I promise you that William Wallace would win the war because you cant retrain any of the damn crusaider units. Its really annoying if you are weird like me and hate having units with less than the full amount of men in them. I'm like obsessive about making my stacks pretty. Not only do all units need to have the full amount of soldiers, but I always order them so that the Generals unit is first(cant change that) followed by Cav, Followed by diffrent types of infantry, followed by missiles, and then any siege or artillary units last. If the unit cards are not in that oder all hell breaks lose. Speaking of which, I wish there was a way to put the unit card things in order on the campaign map without having to move units in and out of the stack.

Yeah, I'm also pretty fussy about unit sizes. Having a unit number bellow 100% really annoys me. Ultimately it also stops you from having a full army- you only have 20 unit slots in 1 army and 10 of them could have incomplete units.

I'm the same way as Drox, and I don't think there's any way to fix it without movements, but if there's a temporary stack you're working with, you can just organize it in battle much quicker with grouping. I can usually survive the turn or so knowing that.

Lol I'm the opposite. I love an elite regiment of battle hardened warrirs who have had there numbers slowly wittled down. My favourites are the units of 1 soldier (more common on RTW)

Same with me except not as much with unit size(although I still don't like less than 100%) I hate it if I have a unit of archers than a unit of spearmen and then another unit of archers.

Damn I should have taken screen shots!!! Edward had literally returned from campaign with his shiny new Templar army to oversee the fall of Wales when 4 stacks of Scots invade and capture Carlisle and Newcastle from me!!!! I send Edward North with reinforcements from Nottingham and who does he meet on their way south to York..........William Wallace (I am not joking!!!) a full stack of veteran Gold Chevron, Gold Armour, Gold Weapon Scots!!! A mighty battle takes place, Edward and his bodyguards kill Wallace and his army routs!! Lost all my Templar Sergeants to his Nobles and my Templar Knights got chewed badly, but at least the entire invading was destroyed!!!

A great gaming moment having Edward and William face off outside York!!!

You can get Gold Weapons, only Bronze.
