This morning, a collective gasp of dismay was heard coming from the Republican party candidates for president. The news? Texas congressman Ron Paul has set a new GOP single-day fund raising record. In a 24-hour period Mr. Paul raised $4.2 Million dollars through on-line donations. The astonishing total suddenly has people wondering: Is this guy for real? Though he may not win the Republican nomination, his candidacy can no longer be written off as "the longest of long shots." He's raising top-tier money, and attracting thousands of new supporters every week, in part due to a strong performance on the Tonight Show (see below). Much to the disdain of the GOP establishment, one thing has become certain about Mr. Paul, he will have an effect on the race.

So what are your thoughts on Ron Paul?

The last hope for a traditional America?

Do you think he might actually win?? He sure is bringing in the $$$!!:thumbsup2

Even with this, he still has only a small fraction of what the other candidates do.
Not to mention he missed his goal for the day by about 60%.

Yeah, but he did way better than any other candidate ever.

I think that speaks for itself.
At what, exactly?
He did better in a completely arbitrary category, that of fund raising the most over 24 hours online.

Ron Paul.

I hope he wins. You do realize that (to quote Captain Planet) The power is YOURS!

If you vote for RP in the primaries, he'll win.

Cause and effect.

You kind of sound bitter about it. Raising 4 million in a day is pretty damn good. The most in one day (not necessarily online) ever is John Kerry when he raised 5.7 million. That was the day he accepted the democratic nomination. Now Ron Paul has 7 million for the quarter and is going for 12 million by December 31st. This is top tier fund raising.

Juggernaut?:laughter: :laughter: :laughter:

If Ron Paul is a juggernaut then Barry Goldwater must have been the colossus.

No but the idea that half of all threads recently created have to be dedicated to certain members of the board having a place to talk about their fetish for Ron Paul does.

Oldgamer tried to make one Ron Paul thread back when he was a mod, and it worked for a while. I dont know why the mods nowadays dont take up a similar policy.

Half the threads? Would you like an actual statistic of the percentage of ron pauls threads in comparison to other threads?

But if gross generalisations help carry on.

A fetish I have not for Ron Paul I'm not even American. Facing a derth of honest politicians or even a politician with an idea that doesn't involve copying verbatrim other politicians in my country I am actually endeared to a politician who breaks from the spiraling policies of ever increasing tax and spend, supported by national and consumer debt.

Wow, guess they don't have hyperboles' where you're from...

They have gross generalisation, its generally considered poor form.

Id like to point out that most of these polls are of registered voters or republicans. Even Hillary and Obama are counting on gaining my new untapped voters. Considering how much apathy there is out there who knows who many new voters Paul might bring out. The internet has changed the way the game is played.

Yes, before the internet, Ron Paul would get 20,000 votes. Now he might get 1,000,000 - 5,000,000 supporters (333,333-1,666,666 voters) (Numbers not exact.)

Ron Paul will not get even close to a majority in any of the primaries, and he certainly won't win the Republican nomination, or the Presidential Race if he sold his soul to satan.
