Default Generic Error drives me crazy

    Hi,
when creating my own sprites for the new models I get this error message:

    Generic Error:
    Failed to find texture
    'Diadochenkriege/data/models_unit/textures/new_falxmen_dacia.tga'

I do not understand this message, however. What exactly can it mean? Who can help me?

The message appears to be crystal clear: the game is looking for that particular texture file. The file is not there. Follow up on that, maybe something happened when you generated the sprite files as they are also in TGA format if memory serves (I am not exactly a RTW expert).

I'm sure one of these tutorials can help you.

@Gigantus: Thank you for your answer. I can't find the bug and so I'll start over with the sprites. Fortunately there weren't that many yet...

@Leonardo: Thank you for your answer, too. Unfortunately I have not found a suitable tutorial for this problem, so I'll start again...

Perhaps if you create a 'Diadochenkriege/data/models_unit/textures/new_falxmen_dacia.tga' and colour it a bright colour, then see where it pops up in game.

If it doesn't show in game, edit the 'Diadochenkriege/data/models_unit/textures/new_falxmen_dacia.tga' and make it invisible.

@ Halie Satanus: Thanks for your help...

I currently have this error message: 'Failed to find texture: Diadochenkriege/data/models_unit/textures/MACEDON_HOPLITE_LEVY.psd'
What the hell is a .psd-file?

It's a photoshop file - usually with multiple levels. No idea why the game would look for it as it doesn't use that format afaik. By the looks of it I would say it's called from the model's details, in RTW it's either the embedded default file reference in the model's CAS file or (more likely) the texture reference in descr_model_battle.txt
My suggestion: check the TXT file for that entry, and if found correct the extension to TGA. Then make sure that you have a TGA file of that name in the folder from the error message.

    Hi Gigantus,

I have now done it as you wrote. It seems that this has fixed the problem. Thank you for your quick and competent help.

Best thing to do is pull out the relevant graphics examples (e.g., pull the base game texture out), and do your textures in the same way. You'll also want to take care to know that the game expects things to be named in a particular way when the graphic might have multiple viewing angles. Logged CR All Mods and Tools Download Link
