    Default Feedback: North Rhun

Please post feedback on this faction in this thread. Report things you like as well as things you feel could be improved. Don't be shy. We want to know about everything: visuals, audio, text, lore, models, game play, features, mechanics, unit balance, campaign balance, look and feel, atmosphere, stability, quality, etc.

We are chiefly attending to battlemap settlement models in the run up to the full release, but we can tweak other elements in that period according to feedback we receive in the open-beta stage.

Bugs/CTDs should be reported in the bugs thread, not here.

For some reason the "skirmish mode" option exists for the Chieftain's guard(Heavy Cavalry Bodyguard) in my North Rhun campaign. Is this a bug, or a design decision?

All general's bodyguard units(Cavalry) have this option enabled in order to prevent them from dying too soon(as for the ai - not to suicide-attack at the start of the battle - i suppose). It is to prevent them fom fighting in hand to hand unless the player orders them to.

Ah! In that case it makes a lot more sense! Thanks for the feedback!

Oh, I thought that concept was abandoned since it didn't work?! When I saw it today, I thought someone had forgotten to remove it...

It works very well as it happens, though it can be annoying for players if they forget to turn it off on their own generals.

Is it intentional that North Rhûn's axemen have five men less than Rhûn's?

Almost certainly yes (we dont arbitrarily assign stats), though I'm not sure on this one myself.

North Rhun are chiefly Highlander subculture, this means they have slightly less numbers than plainsmen Easterlings, though it is only a small difference and so probably only shows up in one or two unit sizes.

They can also survive death unless their heads are severed from their bodies. It's a kind of magic...

They also get horrible sequels. But they men of North Rhûn are fine. After all, who wants to live forever? Besides the Númenóreans that is.

It must be something in that elven blood of theirs, the kings envy their ancestors. (sighs)

In all my parties I think, I saw North Rhûn beat Rhûn mercilessly. Not a single time Rhûn managed to stop them.
It is a bit weird considering that Rhûn is supposed to be the big one.

Odd, I have never gotten that result. Usually Rhûn and Dorwinion cooperate and crush them and Rhovanion. I have seen North Rhûn survive but never actually grow into a powerhouse.

Deathshade, which factions were you playing? I rarely see North Rhun get powerful myself (as caspoi says, it seems like Dorwinion often gets an edge there). But if you're playing a faction that is beating North Rhun's neighbors, that could have an impact on the results.

I am playing a Dwarven campaign, and both Rhûns were monsters by the time I got Wainbows.

I was playing Dale, without touching Dorwinion. For the other, it was far away factions like Dunlendings or Harad, so basically no impact.

Even if you did not conquer Dorwinion you probably had effects on their abilities to expand and I suspect that North Rhûn get some handicaps when you are playing as Dale. The others are a little bit harder to explain but I suspect a healthy dose of coincidence.
