Most ive seen is just cause with just over 6 gigs.

I wonder if the 11gb is truly all data or just some tampering with the files so that pirating the game is harder.... (cos 11gb is a hell of a lot to sit and download unless youve got a great connection and your a member of those pirating networks.

Anyhow as a general rule of thumb i look at games sizes and notice that the larger the game the better it generaly is...

Exceptions: Just cause.... its just crap. and Defcon... at 52mb its a blast.

I only got 12 gig free on my game disk
But hopefully I will be sick and tired of Company of heroes by the time this get out.
And I got 2 copies of RTW on the harddrive.
So that's clears up 9gig which should be more then enough.

    11 gig? bloody hellfire...

interesting that those stats don't seem overly advanced, i'm guessing those are minimum specs though

I assume those are the specs with 12 guys per unit, minimum details and 5 fps, right?

So what would take up 11gb? In RTW the Data file took up 2.23 GB out of the total 2.35 GB. And the top score for biggest folder in \Data was... the FMV folder.. which is for all the movies and stuff. So there's the answer: Movies. Lots and lots of movies are causing this number to be so high. But i suppose thats understandable considering that there's the faction intro's, assasination/spy/princess movies etc.

(Edit: I just checked again. My bad.. the Packs folder is even bigger.. and the Sounds folder.. damn. There goes my theory out the window.)

Movies and voice-acting have been liberally applied, it seems. Oh well, guess I'll just have to make room.

I imagine the largest part is the textures file. Since they're uncompressed (to allow for better FPS) and that each units texture file is going to be 3-4 times bigger than RTW's because of the arm-and-leg-switcharoo thing they have going on. The videos obviously have something to do with it as well.

Yes, you'd need 2 dvd's to fit it on. It would need about 12-14 cds as well.

Those requirements are ********. They are minimium, and that's even pushing it. At least a 2.2 gig processor, 1 gig of good DDR ram, something like a GT 6600, get the drift?

What do i base this off? They're saying a 1500+ CELERON, can run the game. ROFL.

    to be noted:
    Platform:
    PC DVD

and this is sort of funny:
    ESRB:Teen
    Alcohol and Tobacco Reference
    Blood
    Mild Language
    Sexual Themes
    Violence

so, someone smoking and drinking in this game? and "sexual themes", hmmm I wonder what refers to.

That's a LOT of hard drive space for one game.... I wonder if perhaps the developers havent tried to reduce the size as they might have 5 years back, what with hard drive space being so affordable these days. Ah well.
My guess for 'sexual themes' is a reference to the v&c's like 'flaccid' or 'catamite'. I can't really think of anything else it could mean...

Propably the brothels. It has a slight reference to "making babies".. Oh my god! And maybe the smoking reference could be the Hashish. Maybe they sit and smoke before battles.

it may not neccesarily require the entire 11 gb to run the game, but 11gb to get it installed. Some programs require extra space for temp files during installation. But who knows.

I am also glad to see the game coming on DVD, I dont ever want to have to deal with games on 5-6 cds again, just so that the 1 guy who doesnt have a dvd drive can play them.
