Some of the new music is okay I guess, but I find there's very little variety and i end up just having to turn it off. I've tried installing the cc music mod (which I've used with RTR and love) but it doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas what to do? I guess I'll have to get the vanilla files back first, but what ones?

yeah, you know i keep thinking i am missing the new music because it sounds so generic, unless i am listening to the original, i guess? is the new music only for certain factions or is there some way i didnt get it? sorry, dont mean to hijack his question- answer him first :D

I personally like the music, and find it varied and well made.

Dunno..

is the battle music different from the game start and campaign?

Each of the 7 cultures get 3 themes, campaign, battle, and pre-battle (before the lines meet on the battlefield). Cultures that are close together share music so we usually have 2-3 tunes for each culture for each of the three themes, campaign, battle and pre-battle.

And thats not enough variety? Its certainly better than RTW.

I don't just mean the number of tracks, but within the tracks themselves. Tbh when reading about the professional artists, and looking at their websites, I was a bit underwhelmed at what they made. It may just be I've worked with the an exceptional amatuer composer before in a mod, and my expectations may be a bit high. If you are interested I can try to get hold of him for you if you want further music (pm me if so).

Don't get me wrong, I respect the huge amount of time and effort that goes into EB and think it's the best mod overall for RTW :thumbsup2 It's just this aspect that I least enjoy.

Anyway, I worked it out if anyone else wants to do the same thing. Just install the cc lite music mod into the RTW folder (not EB folder), then copy and paste the information below each culture from the sounds_music_strat (data folder) into the one in the EB folder, making sure you also add music under the nomad culture (I just used the same as barbarian). You can also do this with vanilla. As you're not using it, you may as well delete the EB music in data/sounds/music.

ah- i find the Roman music and beginning sequence generic then, when i say that... the horns during battle with the greeks is pretty sweet- i thought it was a sounded a retreat/attack, it takes one off guard in a good way... i must admit i haven't tasted the variety of other music between all factions. i agree that it is much better than vanilla, i just am not sure sometimes if its different from vanilla (like as Roman) because it's not so distinct... still great work

You should definetly get the composer you know to make some music for EB :P even if its just a mini mod. I actually like the songs themselves but I'd have to agree only 3 songs per Culture does get VERY repetitive.

ATM I just play a playlist in the back ground with music from EB + RTW + RTR music mod + Kingdom of heaven + gladiator soundtracks

Ahh, I remember CC Lite... that was some awesome music to match the cultures, especially the Romans.

The OST tracks from "Gladiator" are perfect for the Romans.
