Ummmmm i'm a little lost. I just started a rome campaign. Let me ask u guys something. If I recurit an entire legion from one city let's say arretium. Will that be legion 1. Cause usually I recurit half of the legion from one city and the other half from a near by city. MAking a full legion. How can I get those numbered legion I, II , III legions and all.
This is probaly a stupid question but I just want to know.

Not a stupid question.. I asked the same thing a long time ago...

Basically each city produces a different number legion. Velites and Calvary are universal..

For example.. I might be able to recruit hestati, principe, triari legion #1 from lets say rome... then in lets say arretium recruit hestati, principe, triari legion #2 from there. If I tried to mix them, it wouldn't work, because they are to different legions. However other cities will be able to create both legions for retraining, or the same legion.

After Marius reform is when it gets really interesting, but I'll wait until you get to that point.

You can mix cohorts from different legions in your army, but you won't be able to retrain say a legion1 cohort in a legion2 town, or merge units.

All of Italy except the "barbarian" north and most of sicily recruit the Legio I. The rest of the world (only the cities with the roman shield) recruit the legio II. Forget about Rome, they can recruit the Legio "Zero" which can only be retrained in Rome.

The Early and Imperial Legions are restricted to one city each iirc.
VE Legio I can be recruited in Rome, VE Legio II in the rest of the cities with the roman shield iirc (can't train them yet). Rome can recruit both VE legions.

Unfortunately, in the next patch, I was forced to remove the little legion shields....not enough resources to put them in. But every Region where any kind of Roman Legion can be built will have have this after it's name: (L) Just right click the region and it'll be after the name. Best I could do for now.

So if i get this right we need to retrain the unit were we actuly trained them ?

Not always........ there are like 2 legions for pre reform.... each city produces one or both...

All custom legions...... certain cities produces a unique legion with 1 first cohort that carries the legion eagle.
