Hey I just downloaded this fantastic mod and after I've read through most of the things I decided to play one of the barbarian faction. I started the game up and began to play. To my surprise my town was on 5000- and I lost nearly 5000 money each turn. In just 3-4 rounds I was down to 15 000- I'm rather new to playing moded game but I was kinda lost and I didn't know what to do. This is probably different to normal Rome wich is just build&conquer so to get me started on this game I would greatly apreciate some starting ideas.Thanks.

First off, build any economic buildings you can afford.(Which I'm guessing is none at this point.)
Second, and most importantly, pick your battles carefully. As even the rebel faction who are push overs in vanilla Rome will be dangerous to your survival. So always fight on the battle map cus auto manage will rip you off most of the time.
And lastly, keep an eye on your family members. Because at the start you will have a very short tree of generals to choose from, and the next thing yah know your last heir will have died in battle the same turn your leader died of old age. So during a battle be sure to keep that bodyguard unit out of the action until its time to chase the routing enemy. ;)

Thats the best advice I can give. Good luck and enjoy the mod! :)

Well, here are a few easy steps that I like to follow:

1. Build as many economic buildings as you can with your starting money and hike your taxes.
2. Merge your starting forces and conquer as much enemy territory as you can before your army becomes too weak. You should manage to conquer maybe 2-3 provinces.
3. Once your armies become too weak to conquer any more, disband any units that you won't need for immediate defence. Find out which are the most expensive and disband them.
4. When your economy recovers (and it will), build the best economic buildings that you can. I recommend mines and deep mines, if possible.
5. Build up a nice surplus and then construct the best army that you can afford. Send it to conquer more places. Repeat the previous steps.
6. Once you have a good enough economic infrastructure you will be able to do all sorts of other things. Enjoy the ability to make your foreign policy as you wish!

Plus, I probably wouldn't start as Casse, Sweboz, Pontos, Hayasdan, Lusotannan, Saka, Sauromatae, or Sabyn *if* it's your first time to play EB. They all have only one starting provine (except Sarmatians) and some have a very hard time trading because only rebels surround them. Start with Baktria, Carthage, Romans, Macedonians, Aedui/Arverni, Ptolemies. You'll learn how the EB system works and it won't be such a shock to you then when you try one of the smaller and harder ones.

Alright thanks for the ideas guys, I've just started a roman campaign and I was surprised seeing the units respons as their actual names in Latin when you click on them. The Barbarians didnt say anything so I thought that was a nice feat ! Is it only the Romans who got their own voice or any other factions. Great mod the detail put into the history is outstanding!

Eventually the barbs will respond in their own languages. You can see this if you hire some celtic merc units. Greek mercs should respond in greek too. Hope you enjoy it!
