Hello HTW team!

As a fellow greek, I love this mod!

Going into Ancient Greek citystates and citystate warfare is awesome.
Finally....people who love Greece enough to mod the darn thing!

Nevertheless, Is there an approx. date of release? :whistling

Thanks, Hellas1 sas efharisto para poli! :)

Theirs plenty of threads out their like this. But tot tell you know no aproz. release nor a beta to be announce. We would rather just keep working making progress than dissapoint you fellow fans with a date that could not be achieved.

I agree. I've been around enough mods and other things to know that fixed release dates more often than not come back to harm both the community and the people doing the work. Artificial timetables only do two things: a) dissapoint the fans when they aren't met (almost always happens) and b) force the devs to do a rush job in an effort to keep some sort of artifical timetable.

If major development houses that make A-titles for profit routinely delay/change their release dates by 6 months and even a year, what makes you think that the H team that does this for free is going to be any better. Nope... I would much rather prefer to not have a arbitrary timeline that really means nothing than risk having a lot of hot air being released just because some arbitrary release date was not met.

But that's just my own opinion......

Yeah your right I think it was Doom 3 or one of the Diablo games that delayed the game for like 1-2 years and it wasnt released till like 04 or 05.

Thats all true but its healthy to have a release date. If not can ya reveal how much of the work you hope to ultimately achieve you have done so far? not exactly a release date but its an idea. Dont worry I aint gonna cruicify ya with whatever information you give, sall good.

Well I can tell you this people saw last week that we were up to factions 10 and they though that thats where the team is at, 10 factions done 10 to go. They couldnt be more wrong. We have factions done, material written down for the previews, and renders. But the team has to decide which faction to preview and put along the preview together. Coding has been being worked on and Xanthipos (sp) has joined our teamt o help out with some animations. The work is more ahead than people think but don't think were really far ahead that you will be seeing a release in weeks.

I`ve never asked you guys for a release date (don`t like people aplying pressure needlessy when someone is at work), but I would like to know just 2 things:

What is the most time consuming thing you have yet to do in the mod (skins, code, map, etc...)?

Have you found any "hard points" that stagnate your work (something like a very elusive bug, some problem with the code you cannot solve, etc...)?

Thanks!

The team does not mind being asked about any aproximate time for a release date :) but it does get old when we have these thread pop up every week to two weeks  .

As for your questions its a very good question. I talk often as I can to mostly Snevets and SoR since both have a time more suitable to me because I'm the team member the lives furthest to the west. But skinning and modeling has not been a problem, their would be some minor things one does not get only to be solved minutes our hours later after the frustration they had  (after all we are all human here and frustration is a perfect feeling for us).

The code though so far I have not heard of any problems either. I ardly talk to Romanus, Stirker, and Dagger (if I forgot anyone else in the team please for give me  ) but from what I've seen from Striker still no problem.

All in all we have not hit any road bumps yet and when we do I hope its minor so we can get pass it.

I hope this has helped you K_R  .

Go look at Starcraft:Ghost if you want to see real delays. Scheduled to be released in 2003 than goes on E3 in 2004 or 2005 which they then proponed the release date again. Then now they quit the project cause they feel it won't match up with nextgen consoles! God, Blizzard is becoming goddame bastards these days.......

Back to topic, I won't mind if the release date is not in a month or two but please try to not make it pass summer break cause if it does, Grade 10 is not gonna be kind with anymore freetime left to spare (as suppose to freshman :cool :) Keep up the good work!!

Your right about that. RTW had an affect in my 1st semester of Senior year  . Helping around Heg. sort of has distracted me in class but now I bring my books to get ahead of everyone so I wont lag it anymore.

It depends of lot of things. because of a mod is not a professionnal work, members can have some things to do in real life who can delay the Mod. Some new bugs, some virus who burns our PC, school, university, work problems...

if we want a mod with high level of precision we need time ... but because i want to play the mod, we will accelerate !!

No worries dude, I'm failing Jap AND Math :pinch: However I also have some A's from English, Modern History , and PE(*to balance it out) while my Science is down to a low C along with Religion which got the same (proves how much I love god) and a B+ in art. Wait, but that was only first quarter grade in the second semester.

Last semester I got a GPA of 1.6 :blushing: Even the dumbest of the school surpass me but I'm no doutb the laziest then. NEVER doing homework and missing PROJECTS :( but acing tests a the same time

girls... they cant stop envying us for our ability to stay children... Have a grown serious man in a room full with toys and assure him none will enter. Open the door suddenly. He is gonna be on floor playing

Personally, I prefer getting drunk, ****ing, and making money.

Forget about the release date. Can any of the team members confirm what percentage of this project has been completed?

That reminds me... are you going to have OB for testing, or will there be CB?

no cause we are getting drunk, ****ing, and making money

Hehehe thats pretty much the same thing chaos, if you know how much we've done you can take the date on which we started and how long since and work out an approximate release. We couldn't give you a percentage anyway because lots of the remaining work is still being discussed and there are alot of ambitious ideas floating around, so how soon we release really depends on how much more we do.

Is it just me, or are people just geting impatient since M2TW is going to be released 'relativly' soon and are trying to coerce modders to get their RTW mods done before then?

Its just you man. We have done so much work like someone else said, but to the public it seems so little because we've only shown 12 factions. We aren't pressured by M2 TW. But we do know we will finish before it. But yeah its just you, you would be surprise how many mods are actually ahead but it looks like they are pressured because they haven't previewed most of their stuff.

Evidentally you aren't used to publisher release schedules. What the publisher claims to be the release date is very different from what the developer is actually capable of. Don't expect MTWII until 2007. It is almost impossible for a major A-title release to not be delayed at least 6 months. A year is usually more common... and if you are Duke Nukem Forever, its more like a decade.
