Hello! Just tried a campaign with the Celtiberians but was quickly put back by their battle performance.

Is it just me or are these guys(Cutarii, Militia) extremely prone to rout? I had six units taking on a single Craetarii unit and suddenly turning into a mass rout. Before in other battles I also had those starting units break easily in battle against vastly inferior troops.

Maybe connected to that I know that pathfinding is hardcoded but I got the impression that those Iberian units get cluttered all over the place far more regularly than with other factions. I ordered a charge and only 10-20 men actually engaged the enemy while the rest stood back not bringing its numbers to bear. A cavalry unit got cluttered over half a settlement making it impossible to control.
While I know city pathfinding can be dodgy there are usually ways to keep the units together.

This kind of erratic and unexpected behaviour was so annoying that I quit that campaign for the time being. Anyone else similar experiences or was it a freak accident, something I missed, or is there something fishy about these guys?

Iberian Milities have a morale of 8, same as most other milita.

The same thing happened with my campaign. The pathing on the Craetarii equities in barbarian towns was so bad I just had to siege every city and wait 4-6 turns to murder the sallying garrison. It turns out to not really be a bad thing, since you lose a ridiculous number of troops killing some of the higher EXP Craetarii units if you have to slug it out with them in a city.

Hmmm... this routing was really strange, the Craetarii had a weapon upgrade but nothing else, was reduced in numbers and faced off 4 Militias and 2 Scrutarii after I had already routed it once and the rest of the enemy run off in shambles (that's why this rout startled me so much, they were hanging on the edge of total defeat and one mediocre unit with questionable morale suddenly beats up my whole army?). But the real gripe with those units is that they are hard to make any maneuvres or behave like you want.

Seen it before, it's not just the Iberians, and it's not just EB, so I guess it can't be fixed.

As for the morale, I know what you mean. this mod is sort of wierd. I play a battle where a unit of hastati routed before it had even entered combat. No missiles were throw at it, all I did was told them to charge some cavalry that were already engaged. The turned around and left to field altogether! Very strange.

Well, I've noticed it a lot with rome lately. Only with non-phalanx infantry of coarse. And never with cavalry. I haven't played around with pontus/armenia to notice it though.
