Senate faction

Would be great getting missions as romans from senate. i totally agree

And every faction deserves equal treatment. Rome wasn't even the strongest power at the time EB starts, so why should it deserve two faction slots?

There are a number of reasons, but first and foremost, we want all of our factions to be playable.

Please add this question to the FAQ and these answers as the ....well.... responses ?:P

I think that there would probably be better ways to simulate the evolution of the Roman Republic and Empire without creating a new faction. One thing I always hated about vanilla RTW was running around like I was the Senate's errand boy.

Ridiculous.

After the romani thred, it seems you are going to play a 'senate' faction.

haha yeah it's a new trend. And before that it was the "OMG PLEASE INCLUDE SEGMENTATA" threads....

About a senate faction, I feel it could deserve a technical answer.
1. I don't even remember the Papal Faction ever telling you what to do except building churches and building priests. And the occasional crusade which not really was the papal faction but called by another faction priest.
2. The offices of the senate is not anything like the offices in the papal faction. the Papal faction only appoint priests, and to my knowledge, priests will not be used at all in EB2.
3. The Senate Missions could very easily be covered by the "Noble Council" Missions.
It isn't possible to have something that remotely resembles a "Senate faction" at all, not in eb3, not in m2tw in general.

speaking of which. It might not be a terribly bad idea to add in the segmentata. Of course you would have to extend the time frame a little, and then of course theres the additions you would have to give to the other factions to account for the extended time frame(and ensure that rome wasn't being favored over them). That would take a bit more work and it would be even longer until this mod was released(which would probably annoy allot of people), but from a standpoint of gameplay there would be no reason not to do it. Maybe it could be a later patch?

disclaimer: I haven't read any of the other "OMG PLEASE INCLUDE SEGMENTATA" threads, so i haven't heard any of the reasons why this would be a bad idea.

1. There is no reason to be Romano-centric.
2. You'd have to extend the time frame more than a bit to include segmentata as the common armour undisputed.
3. EB is already pushing the unit limit.
4. Most players blitz and finish somewhere between 220 and 150 BC. So you want to focus on the period around 50-150AD. That would require a different mod.
5. You are free to make your own RTW mod or EB sub-mod according to your own fantasies.

I think it would be a very good idea to add senate missions,by replacing "Noble Council" with "Senate" .Not a senate faction, but senate missions at least .I like to receive missions by he senate!

How about treating priests or cardinals as Senetors?
If no other Ancient mod would palnned for MTW engine, sub mod for later period like FRRE is desirable.

I definitely can't think of a use for priests and they sound like a terrible idea for EB. I don't know what use senators would be as a replacement for that character type, but then I can't say it's a bad idea as the best thing I could possibly come up with would be a whore train character type that keeps up morale :laughter:

Gun to my head I would say the best thing I could suggest would be a baggage train that helps the army remain supplied, though that would only be useful if this mod implements supply traits.

Then maybe a baggage train character type wouldn't be a terrible idea after all. An army could remain supplied as long as it has the baggage train either in the same province or traveling along with the army itself. You'd have to make the agent expensive to make it strategic at all and figure out some way to make it vulnerable (assuming there is even a variable you could adjust to make it possible for an army to take advantage of its presence).
