Hello, I am a Spanish/Filipino/Chinese person who is really upset that Creative Assembly, in all its glory has failed to implement the Philippines which since 1565 has been Spain's largest and most important colony in Asia.

"In 1521, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan arrived in the Philippines, and claimed the islands for Spain.Colonization began when Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi, arrived from Mexico in 1565, and formed the first European settlements in Cebu. In 1571, they established Manila as the capital of the Spanish East Indies. The colony was governed as a territory of the Viceroyalty of New Spain from 1565 to 1821, and administered directly from Spain from 1821 to 1898. Spanish rule brought political unification to an archipelago that later became the Philippines, and introduced elements of western civilization such as the code of law, printing, and the calendar. The Philippines was governed by Mexico City from 1565 to 1821, before it was administered directly from Madrid after the Mexican revolution."

But if the Philippines is not suitable to become a trade theater. Creative Assembly can at least add the Sultanate of Sulu and tons of Pirates since my country in its pre-colonial and colonial history was one of the pirate havens of Asia, and still is!

So Creative Assembly, please add my country to the game because it had a very significant role in the colonial history of Asia.

You know there are a lot of areas of the world that CA could have put in. If anything the fact that S. America isn't controllable in the game is more ahistorical than the East Indies. CA only had so many resources to put into the game before release. As it stands the map is huge as it is. However, if most if not all of the trade theatres are not changed into normal regions by the end of the expansion packs, then you certainly have a point and I agree. Trade theatres exist to have more map locations without having to make more regions.

Your sig is hilarious by the way.

They also could have made a 4th and 5th War theatre (Asia and The australian sector which will include indonesia). No game can be perfect....

Bit late for this, to be honest.

Still, I got my homeland (sort of) covered, we're a spice trade spot :thumbsup2

By the way, you realize what you're asking would require a lot more work than they can feasibly put in, right? Maybe in an expansion, friend.

I heard someone was making an Australia map with regions. However no one know show to make a whole new region theatre yet.But i still think a fe wplaces such as South America,Australia and South East Asia should be in this game.

Tbh, I really haven't heard of the Philippines in many texts besides ones from WW2, the Spanish American War, and Ferdinand Magellan. It really isn't a major player imo.

I think geography was a factor in this too, after all, the philipines are sort of on the eastern edge of "the old world". Perhaps when China and Japan are added CA will flesh out the East Indies to add a new strategic element to the trade.

I couldn't understand why they didn't do the entire world, it's just so stupid. I wouldn't bother if they lowered down the graphics to do more nations and areas. And that not South America is in the game, is so idiotic...

Personally i think the whole world is a bit much. But i don't see why they couldn't of connected all the major theaters and trade theaters together normally. It would be cool to have the entire Atlantic Ocean to navigate.

The people doing the graphics and the people making the factions, units, areas etc are all different people, reducing one doesnt in any way effect the other, and you can't just shift people between different areas of game development cos they're all different professions ^^

Since we're pointlessly wishing that random areas were part of the game - i'd quite like and have always quite liked the thought of being able to play in Africa.... as in sub-saharan Africa... as in not just trade theatres but being able to play factions there

I guess if Paradox can do the entire world in their games, I don't understand why CA couldn't do the same...

I didn't think like that the programmer should be shifted to different areas, I just thought that more lands and factions would mean more of the resources on the PC being used for that, so they would have to cut a bit off the graphics.

Cant' comment on the games made by Paradox, since i havn't actually played them, im sure there are plenty of reasons for why the whole world wouldn't have been included on ETW that weren't applicable to EU3, etc, like unit details, maybe map details (i dunno), etc. Can't say i disagree with you in wanting the whole world in the game, but i imagine CA knew plenty of people want the whole world i nthe game and if they had the resources they would have done it

Paradox gets away with doing the whole world by only having about 50 unit types in the entire game. And each 'unit type' is just a line of text and some numbers, not a fully modelled, textured entity.

And other such things. I love Paradox's games (particularly Hearts of Iron 2, though EU3 is great too) but they're really not comparable.
