Playing as Prussia.

Noticed that Light Infantry, and especially Jaigers, take far to long to reload there weapons. This pretty much negates their longer range. Because all they can manage, usually, is to get one volley off, from their long range. Then, while they are taking well over a minute, or longer reloading, the enemy has closed enough to be able to use their own muskets.

I know these light infantry muskets/rifles took longer to load. But how they are set up at the moment is just taking too long.

Well, sir, that's why light infantry aren't called "fire and forget". You fire once, move back, fire, move back, move to the sides..

That doesn't work very well because they can't reload and move at the same time.

Dosent seem to be a problem for Grenzers or Riflemen whos fire rate is insane it must be the type of weapon they use if my memory serves me right Jaegers get Flintock musket and not rifle so there reload times is the same as line infantry but i could be wrong..:hmm:

They work very well. I was able to kill 700 men with two regiments of Jaegers. Just shoot a volley, run and take cover, wait for reload and strike again. I also use heavy cavalry in reserve to counter harassed enemy's cavalry (after volley from your riflemen or whatever). They have insane stamina, so they can easily out run line infantry(they also will not try to pursue you for very long). Be aware of artillery, but I think that they have longer range of fire than canister shot, so if possible, shoot them too;).

yep it works but if you use loose formation you can put your light infantery in front of your line infantery, your line infantery can shoot through your light infantery and your line infantery will hold long against the enemys fire.

Is this true? You won't take any friendly fire?

Put Light Infantry in that nice spred out formation they have and they are kneeling so ya they are under the friendly arch of fire if you have them up right in front of the line men.

I've encountered this with my beloved Tiralleurs during battles, and the combination of cover, range, accuracy and spread (of the Tiralleurs) tends to negate the annoying wait I think. Particularly if you've got them on flanking duty once the lines have met.

However, as mentioned above, shooting then falling back works fine. This puts a bit of space between them and their target and gives them a chance to reload and fire before having to flee again.
