I fought a battle in Trinidad and it was snowing.:hmm::hmm::hmm:

C'mon, now. This is just plain stupid.

I am also a little annoyed at the frequency of fighting in very low visibility or fog conditions, and that you are no longer allowed to postphone attacks for favorable weather, which totally in line with reality. As a defender, you most likely won't be able to choose, but I don't understand why they removed that choice for the attacker.

News just in CA have put the severe change in weather in ETW down to Climate Change, Global Warming and maybe El Nino.

I agree it is a bit whack

I totally aggree! I had hoped that going below the snow line might mean greener pastures. No such luck. And if it really rained as much as in TW, we'd all be commuting in canoes. I never really found the wait for weather thing to help though. In MTW, if it's not raining now, wait a minute.

I like the different day light conditions which seem to be pretty random, but in general there is just way too much weather. Both weather and day light should be on more of a bell curve, with mid day / clear skies being most common and poor visibilty conditions being more rare (and there by, more novel). Geographically relevant weather is just a no brainer.

i thignk this is because you dont have enoug churches. if you onley build pleasure palaces well god wont be happy.. he makes it snow to make you lose war. i have seen if i build more churches; no more snowing. in trinidad.

In M2, to have heavy rain was quite usual in the desert if you only brought enough bowmen with you.

I had snow when fighting one of the Pirate strongholds... but only in one direction! I looked right, and it was cloudy but clear... look left, and it was a blizzard. Didn't matter where the camera was parked, it was always just left snow, right clear :p

[fanboi]
It's not snow, it's the volcanic ash of a nearby volcano.

CA have been listening to Al Gore too much I guess.

I'm more upset that the weather options dont even work on multiplay battles.

Strange, I have played a ton of battles and I hardly ever get anything other than a sunny day. Certainly no snow so far in India.

I had rain almost on every battle! >.< the new weather really looks cool and stuff, but I don't need rain on every freaking battle I fight.

Would have been cool of they would set up a display that indicates, which weather you most likely will face. Somehing like: Your army attacks random AI army ---> Display pops up with the usual stats like size, strength, commander and all that things AND a indicator which weather you'll face. Or just put back the old system of RTW and M2TW, it worked quite well. At least to me.

It's not just this game that has the issue, FIFA games also had snowy weather in the middle of August! It is only a small thing but yeah having the "wrong" weather is annoying and surely not hard to implement. it's the little details that can make or break games.

I always auto resolve the battles, it takes too goddamn long to load every fight

Not so much the weather and the bland landscapes, my main irk with this battlefield shebang is the lack of persistant scarring.

Y'all know in most RTSs that if you blow a hole in the floor, a little graphic of a crater appears, completley 2d most of the time. However, it feels like a battlefield.

the Somme turned into a mudbath and was a nightmare
Waterloo ruined Napoleon, with no help from the mud

I hear people demanding we can take cover in the craters left behind from cannon, and I disagree, as they weren't explosive and didn't leave huge man-sized holes for hiding in. However, I'd like to think that as the battle wore on, the grass looses it's greeness, the earth is textured slightly shinier like wet sod and troops are sluggish in the heavy, sticking bog

It's the "Little Ice Age" :).
Little Ice Age maybe, but I don't think it was enough to have a snowy weather near Baghdad. Maybe in Algiers but certainly not in Baghdad :). Now, it just seems to be an overlooked detail, which is regrettable since it shouldn't be that hard too implement a credible climate system.

I never gets these problems, it's always green and sunny/raining in the carribean, never snow in any strange places. Guess im lucky =)

Yeah, I get that in all rain/snow battles and I've been meaning to bring it up but I guess I'm not the only one who noticed it.

Yeah its bugging me that only about 10% of all battles are in actual sunlight..
Also, i just had my FIRST EVER naval battle on CALM WATERS! As in almost no wind at all. No joke, it does exist!
It looked really pretty actually, the water almost looked like real water (due to no ugly white "foam" from the usual big waves)

I'm honestly uncertain what the clear benefit was for fighting at night in RBI or M2 was, other than the +command, and the fact that "reinforcement" armies didn't generally participate, so I pretty much ALWAYS fought at night unless I specifically wanted the enemy's reinforcements to participate so I could encrushinate them all, like when I am attacking a stack sitting right outside a city, allowing me to pull the city garrison and slaughter them, then march into the city unopposed without having to siege. Otherwise, AND THE DRAGON COMES IN NIIIIIIGHT!

Snow in the desert is totally unrealistic afaik. But I found myself in a severe rainstorm in the Sahara desert once (irl).

I've only played northern and eastern European campaigns so far... and it is almost always raining or snowing, just like in real life. Really annoying considering the new strategy I've taken up though. I lead the enemy around artillery with the horses that they prioritize more highly. In rain and snow, the damn things can only kill a couple for every hit... and in rain and snow, arty doesn't hit. I agree that the weather is a little extreme and not particularly accurate.

Also, lol theoo.

I just fought a night battle against pirates. Maybe it was just a really, really dark day battle?

Probably a heavy thunderstorm on the evening or something.
Has anyone ever actually seen or heard any thunder in the thunderstorms btw?? :laughter: So many broken/unfinished things.

Snow is possible in deserts, but it shouldn't occur in every battle and rain should probably be a lot more common, assuming you are fighting in the right time of the year.

Snow in the Caribbean is where I call shenanigans
