i have a unit of gunner that lost all their horses in the battle, i thought the gun are dead too because there is no more fire and will icon so i move the unit back to the rear farmhouse.

the plucker gun started 'following' the gunners!!! :laughter:

just before the gunner reach the rear and to safety, the game crashed.

Im playing m2, I suggest playing another game until empire gets patched and modded to a decent level. Artillery doesnt even listen to me after about 3 commands into the battle. Sometimes it works fine with no issues, maybe 50% of the battles go well. Also I get skirmishers that refuse to face the correct way. Really too many issues to list. Artillery is especially bad after getting beat up a little in battle. Good luck with all that...

Thats crazy! Artillery should still be useable after the horses are dead, just not mobile. In real life, unless the limber or casion (doubt thats spelled right, and it might not even have been used in this period, I'm not sure, but it basically attatched to the limber and carried extra ammo and powder, as well as some supplies to do minor repairs.) were destroyed, the guns could still be fired without a team of horses, they just didn't get moved arround the feild, or if they did it was a very slow process. I think there are a lot of little things to work out with the artillery. Like how one horse dies they all die. That isn't quite right, and I wish there was something that kept the guns from tracking a target until they were shooting right down there line, killing some of there own unit, not mention tons of friendly infantry. Its friendly fire not friendly slaughter!

I've had the same problem on occasion. After the unit gets involved in melee combat it gets all screwed up. You can't re-occupy the guns. When you select the unit, it highlights the gunners and the guns as if the computer is considering the guns to be additional soldiers in the unit, rather than guns. If you have the unit move to a new location, the guns roll along after soldiers, following them like a group of lost puppies. I think the game somehow now thinks the guns are soldiers which prevents you from re-occupying the guns or doing anything useful with the unit. Horribly frustrating.
