Major Lag on grand campaign and Cut scenes

I just got this game, after having had MTW (expansions) - ran ok, and Rome Total war (ran great).

Comp specs
Windows XP (service pack 3)
Pent 4 Duo Core 2.4gh
2Gb Ram
Geoforce9500GT (bought this recently, cheapest card out there, better than the 6600GT i had before, or so i was lead to believe).
-Have the latest driver.

Battles run on medium alright and sooth on low. However even on low graphics setting, i lag a lot on the grand campaign main screen. The screen is choppy when i move the mouse. Also the cut scenes lag a LOT.

I don't want to run it on HIGH graphics, i'll just be happy with medium. I'm not sure what the problem is, i can upgrade my graphics card again to a 9800gtx+, but it may not be a graphics card issue. The 9500GT should be able to run it.

Many people with better computers are getting the same campaign lag

Mine is pretty bad, I can't move from say England -> France smoothly. Never experienced this with other TW games (well once, when i had no drivers on my 6600GT).

Will getting a 9800GTX+ improve this problem? People are telling me 9500GT can't play games

yea, i noticed that when playing RTI. The videos were very laggy/slow.

RTW is the only game i play on my desktop (other than football manager but only play 03/04 (patched)).

I was thinking about upgrading to 9800GTX+ with a new power supply, mine is currently 350W -> may need a 500W one.

However, if everyone is getting lag on the map then 280$ AU may be better spent else where (like on my ps3).

I'm just wondering if it was only the lower end cards which were lagging (GT series) or is it everyone? If it is only the GT series, then the Graphics card investment may be worthwhile, if not it's prob a bug with the game.

Could be possibly be a motherboard or a CPU issue (my CPU is at 55-59% usage when running ETW).

It might get a bit better but the lag, jerky/stuttering movement won't go away. I believe that is something CA has to look into. As far as cut scene videos go, some people seem to have solved their problem by downloading another version of the binkw32.dll. I did and it helped all my sound problems in the cut scenes and they were real BAD.

Im not even getting these cutscenes? Other than Road to Indipendance are there cutscenes in the grand campaign? Ive not seen any unlike other TW titles..

Don't think so, there is an intro movie (which lags).

I fixed some of the lag with vert-scale (think thats what it's called). However the click -> wait 2-3 seconds for response problem isn't going away.

Stared with the Ottoman empire, game looks good so far, a lot different from the old ones, a bit easy with a single page to manage taxes etc.

IF only for the comp issues

EDIT: declared war on a neighboring empire.....they attacked me. 5 mins and the battle is still loading :<
