So ETW became Nigh Unplayable

So ETW became Nigh Unplayable

From epic success to epic fail I am super pissed.

Basically my internet expired and the game suddenly crashed, Steam wouldn't let me start the game so instead of waiting i paid the families internet.

Then the game just started to crash every five turns or so and if i try and restart it without restarting the computer, it crashed so bad it wont let me do anything till i press the restart button, before this I went 14 hours without a crash.

Wtf happened.

Entropy reared its ugly head.

Whitty..

Screen goes white and all i hear is Se - Ga ga ga ga Se Ga ga ga then it goes black, Ga Ga Ga then white...

Its taunting me...

I bet this is steams doing, it was fine till that crashed

Yeah, that odd crash might have caused a file corruption. I would say run a check on steam to make sure you have all the correct files.

If it continues, reinstall my friend.

Well, I don't know, but I'm sure it's something you're doing wrong. This game is perfect.

So how do I run a check on steam?

I hate steam btw

Open up your steam 'My Games' tab.

Right click on Empire: Total war and go to properties.

Go to the local files tab and click 'Verify Intergrity of game cache"

Make sure you're game is shut down,

Sit back and wait, hopefully it doesn't start downloading anything, because if it does then you were missing/corrupt file.

But, reinstalling is a great way to fix everything.

Open Steam.

Go to My Games.

Right-Click Empire.

Select Properties.

Go Local Files.

Click Verify integrity of game cache...

Profit?

Bah, beaten to it. Good luck anyway.

Don't we all? But then again we also had to walk up the hill both ways.

It's totally worth it.

Or not.

Yep. That's why I bought the disc.

Not a solution, even if you buy disk you have to install by steam just like you would have to via just buying it off steam.

Not quite true. It installs from the DVD's but validates the serial number through Steam. Then dowloads and installs the Day 0 patch from Steam. Still a PITA, but it only took me about 40 minutes from beginning to end. But then I think I am one of the lucky ones.
