This Question all began on a battle field far-far away...

So I was the Macedonians and I was fighting the Romans.

-Macedonians (Me)
Small amount of Phalanx troops (Phalanx and Levy's) and small Cavalry Detachment.

-Romans (Brutii)
General/A decent amount (like 4-6) of Hastati

I have my Phalanx in the typical formation (Single line/spears forward) then the Brutii advance and stall like 1 unit-width in front of me but didn't throw their pilum's....

Then the Computer begins to shift his entire line due left, the Hastati pretty much turned 90* Left and walked, so I lifted my spears and charge with sword into the flank of the Hastati and annihilated them because it seemed as if the Computer was supprised by the unorthodox maneuver by not making a single order for 45-55 seconds but by then I had the Hasati routing.

So, Can a Computer show supprise?

I think this is more a case of AI stupidity than anything else:).

And I've never seen a computer "show" surprise.

If a regiment of wardogs started to jump through hoops then yes, it can surprise me. If I jump from the side of the screen and throw a cake on the screen then perhaps, but since the AI has the intelligence of a small rock, no it won't be suprised.

The AI is so stupid that it will run headlong into any trap and not register the beautifull death-pit o' doom you laid out for them.

Seriously, are hidden troops hidden from the ai? Like for examplee units in trees, will they know they are there until they reveal themselves?

The AI won't respond to "Hidden" units until they reveal themselves; on the other hand, units that a human wouldn't be able to see due to line-of-sight limitations, such as units in a defile and out of unit sight range, aren't hidden and the AI does seem to react to them.

many times ive had troups in hiding and when i made my presence known the ai gave up and ran away without a fight i still ran down a few units though but the army still didnt turn and fight

There is nothing unorthodox about your situation. The computer is, well, the computer, and as such cannot react to your unique, human thought processes. This whole "AI surprise" thing is, quite frankly, rubbish. This means nothing to you, personally, of course, but c'mon man!
