Okay in my opinion this is something I think this forum has been missing out on.

Basically a news update everyday with all the newest mod info. THe Eagle standard is doing great work, but we need smallers "News" coverage if you will, so that everyone know exactly what is going on.

We could have people go around and find the news and then a compiler to combind it all into one post of news.

Great idea. I'd do it myself, except I doubt I could keep track of all the stuff going on in TW, having never really had it as my top priority.

why just modding news?

there's far far far more to TWC than just modding. this is a full fledged fan site forum, not a modding workshop like the SCC...

there's news from the curia, news from praedae belli, latest news from CA/other sites, latest hot debates in the mudpit, game/film reviews in various thema devia sub forums etc etc etc

Yes, they should put film reviews on the front of the site because of course, this isn't a site aimed at a particular series of games.

I like the idea of the former king of Atlantis... but I like more the idea coming from the Black Prince, even with Omnipotent's sarcasm.

I think it would attract more, and better members into the forums. Specially like film reviews. :thumbsup:

largely ignoring the sarcasm, even if we restrict it to gaming stuff, there's still far more stuff to post about TWC relating to TW than just the mods

Sure we could add none mod stuff, but RTW is always the most important thing at a RTW site...

If I could get permission to post news, I would start this up. Grimsta will helo me write some stuff and imb you can too..

News from the Curia is of zero interest to anyone who's not a dedicated forumgoer. Latest hot debates in the Mudpit is basically "recent forum posts" (usually the current debates are on there, in addition to other stuff of course). Game/film reviews . . . is anyone going to come to TWC for that? Honestly? People come to Total War Center because they want to know about Total War, not current events or movies or anything. Or else they want to read/post on the forums, in which case the recent posts should be enough.

What, exactly? Strategy guides, I guess, obviously patches, but those require updates only very rarely. Modding is going to be the bulk of anything we put up.

While I like the idea, it seems to be an idea without good function. What really would it do? As Sim says, it would probably be mostly modding related. What type of news exactly would it be posting? Previews and such can be put on the front page if they simply ask. So I am confused about the news that would be featured in this...

Editorial - From whoever is the editor
Theme Devia Weekly Update - A small selection of the better posts in the Thema Devia and its Subforums
VV Update - ^^^^
Hosted Community Projects - Taking a small look at 3 or 4 mods in the making
Barbarian Invasion - Taking a look at BI and all its pro's/cons
Rome Total War - ^^^^^
The Modders Spotlight - Small paragrapgh about a mod in the making from a *differant* mod maker.

We would need someone dedicated enough to log on every day and do this. From my 1 1/2 years of experience on TWC, I have seen people being enthusiastic about doing something that requires daily checkup on the forum, and then a few weeks later, the whole thing was forgotten and abandoned.

How about this: If someone - more likely someone with access to civitate forums - goes around in each section of TWC, starting from the TW community to the CC community - touching sub forums like the modding community, general community, the science, literature and mudpit etc, and touching the curia with the latest debate - and summerize each hot topic into a few sentences and posting it.
Again, this would need someone dedicated/motivated enough to do this, and somehow I have my doubts that it would go for long, loosing interest after a few weeks.

An example of things that people are enthusiastic about, and then forgot weeks later is the TWC Historic Society, something KScott founded himself. Course, im a member of it, but it is dead.

Its not dead at all, I just stayed out of the current debate becuase due to modding I didnt have time to research properly. Im still planning on doing it, altough I think it will be best not to vote, I will just pick for now on..

indeed, I understand, but that is why we have multiple people to do it. Alreayd we have a team of three, and plan on splitting the work if we ever manage to start this up.

Im not trying to make a life commitment, sure this may very well die in a month, but hey, that month of news would be better than a month of what we have now...

Well, I suggest you to run a "prototype" daily news in the eagle standard forum and see how it works out.
You are in charge of the daily news, or who whoever you'd like to appoint beside you.
