Oh ok, so when v4.0 comes out, then there will be a new download site, is that what your saying?

Would it be possible that when 4.0 of this mod comes out to have this to be downloaded into say maybe 4 or 5 parts so it won't take so so so long to actually dld? I just tried to dld the 3.99 mod and the transfer rate was low, but my internet is really fast. Mega Upload is too slow and I really don't care about joining their site to get the premium dld service. Maybe if there were several parts to dld might make the process faster.:hmm:
 
First off, when will 4.0 come out? Don't say that we cant have an alt download site then tell us that it wont come out for another say 5 months. I really want to try this out.

I think we are forced to cut the mod into many parts, because it is HUGE. Though a torrent would be better for guys like you.

We are not planning to let it take another 5 months, but there needs to be done a lot of work. For example: in the last couple of weeks one member made about 100 event texts. Some of them filling more then one page. :thumbsup2 But you should really wait for the next version. So much better imo.

Guys like me.:hmm: Well, I know the first part of the dld was 1024 MB and the tr rate went down to 75 kb per sec on Mega Upload site. That is with the regular dld service option. Anyway, a few more parts would be better. I have never used torrent before. Most of the mods I dld are either from filefront or Megaupload. Usually if the file is not over 800 MB the file will dld alot faster. I wonder if it is not having so many dld the mod at one time that the site becomes overloaded and that is why the kb rate transfer is so low?:hmm: Oh well, ( deep subject- well ) can't wait to see the new version. Oh, I tried to click on the link to dld the 7zip and it was broken. Is 7zip a free version or do they have a trial version like Winrar does? You see I refrain myself from buying anything online since my identy was stolen over a year ago. It stinks to because there are alot of games that you can not find in stores that you have to purchase online. Peace!:thumbsup2
 
Try getting a download booster. I use DownThemAll for firefox. 7zip is free: http://www.7-zip.org/ Works for me - make sure you choose the 4.65. That's stable and was packaged with that.

Unlucky on losing your ID. My own will have to change in a few months due to OpSec if I'm successful, which is a shame. Still, yeah it's completely free.
 
Usually what I do is dld a mod on one computer and then transfer to another, if the file is under 700 MB so I can put them on disc. A dld booster probably would not help in my case, but thanks for telling me which version of 7zip and where to get it? I'm guessing that when 4.0 version comes out that we will still need 7zip to extract the mod?
 
Don't think so. Probably get ourselves a shiny installer. Installers are smaller in size than 7zip archives, which are smaller than zip files.
 
Will the next version of DaC resemble TATW 1.4 in any way? In this I mean features such as the Rammas Echor, Balrog, Aragorn etc?

Hey :)

I read that Rhun was home to four of the seven dwarven clans, and also home of the Morquerendi (dark elves). Any plans on inclduing these?
 
That would be a bit difficult, because the four Dwarven clans lived beyond the map that Tolkien gave us. We would need to create a whole lot of new regions and also add new factions, but our faction roster is already filled. From what I understood though, at least some of the dark Elves will be part of the Dorwinion faction.
 
im confused on what to download...i have third age so do i need to download the old version first or the old version then the new or just the new...???

so if someone would tell me the steps for the downloads id like that...sorry for the noob question...:hmm:

Edit: wait i mis-understood your question:doh: NVM
But i think you'll be able to download the new one without the old one

You only need to download this mod and just play, you dont even need TATW for it.

OK, so you download both parts (It doesn't matter where you download it, preferably another folder on your desktop called modifications or something like that). After that:

1.) Create a folder in your C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods called "Third_AgeDAC"

2.) Put the 7-Zip files in the "Third_AgeDAC" folder

3.) Right click Third_AgeDAC.7z.001, Under 7-Zip, click Extract Here

4.) Then you should be all done. Click the bat file to play

I've got a problem with playing the DaC game. I haven't got vista, but I've got Steam installed.
I think steam might be the cause of my problems, however i'll brief you on the problem.
I had Stainless Steel mod installed before, but somehow I couldn't remove all of it(deleted all the files i could find, but somehow Stainless Steel is still listed as one of the options, when launching the kingdoms mod, alongside teutonic and the rest.)
Well I've followed the install guide, and everything seemed fine(using the 3.99 version btw), i've downloaded the Thirdage.bat but when I launch it the black window with numbers pops up, and then the kingdoms launch window opens and then I can choose between the usual teutonic, crusades, britannia and stainless Steel. I can imagine that the stainless steel thing shouldn't matter, but I can't really think of anything else that would make me unable to install the game.
I've also tried the "Dummy.Exe" trick where i put the launcher(file) in another folder, and rename the kindoms.exe to launcher, that resulted in the game popping up with "Medieval total war 2: Kingdoms is unavailable at the moment(roughly translated)". Can anyone give me an input on what to do? I've already deleted the entire game, and reinstalled it, however when I checked it still popped up with the Stainless Steel option in kingdoms launcher.

I have had the exact same problem, with the computer somehow sensing that the game is left even though I uninstalled it. I downloaded Ccleaner and got rid of all temporary files that are hidden, then it worked! :thumbsup2
 
Thanks Leckan, I'll give it a try.
Would it be safe to just make backups of Med2 and kingdoms from steam, or do you think it would keep the Stainless Steel bug then?
