Why do you feel you will be a valuable asset to the CdeC? What experience do you bring in judging members?

Well, as I am sure every candidate will say, I feel I have a good judge of character. As Editor of the CQ, one of my responsibilities was the hiring of writers. We have a close nit team, who are passionate about their chosen subject, in this case AARs, so when reviewing potential candidates, I had to make sure they would fit well into the setup. That would include looking at their activity level, seeing where they post, the quality of those posts, since writing ability was obviously paramount, all things which would be useful to a CdeC member reviewing a potential candidate for Citizenship. I believe coming more from the Content side of the site that I would introduce some more balance to the CdeC, as many of the passed applicants are from debating or modding.

Why do you feel you will be a valuable asset to the CdeC? What experience do you bring in judging members?Well, I have been here for over a year. As a result I have 9 chevrons at the upper right hand of my unit card.

Experience? Well. I try to get to know as many members as possible. I also stalk a few members who show talent or are beginning to contribute actively to the site, not that it's gay or anything. I am almost perpetually on the lookout for some fresh recruits to the Curia, and vote in everything. It is my duty as a citizen in this august body of the CVRIAWR to vote in everything. cba to make a 'voted' one liner anymore, though. If it helps I will do it more.

On a serious note, I really like this site and want to contribute even more to it. One of the key aspects of the site is the Curia and the citizenry. From the citizens we pick out people and send them to the various forums to police, etc. I believe that the more the merrier- and don't take this as a 'Everyone can be citizen cos this is happy time'. This is more like 'Start evaluating more people that deserve to be evaluated but are sorely unrecognized by others, whilst using big words that nobody likes to try and be funny.'

We are all valuable assets to the CdeC as all of us have the ability to judge people. My judgement is lead by my experience in the moderation branch, judging posts and there for judging the member at the same time makes me a valuable asset to the CdeC.

My Experience?

I served twice, have patronized some of the best civitates in TWC history and know what it takes to become a civitates. Whats important to me is a shift in what it is to be a civitates and my aim is to have more members join us who are from the areas of the forum which are neglected. One such example is the strategy guide and AAR areas where there are many promising Civitates waiting to be found. I also have moderator/staff/Hex/content experience if that helps.

Well Brig, I do not hold grudges. Even if I did, I would say that I would not take my personal feelings into consideration. I do not care if I have had any tiffs with a member in the past- if they contribute, they contribute, and this is all for the good of the site.

Besides, it is more fun to debate with someone you hypothetically do not like in the Curia than to have to do it in PMs.

And whosoever judges solely on personal feelings for the user, shame. Shame. Shhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmeeeeeee

I am very judgmental
But I have no prior experience on the CdeC. But you have to be elected to have experience with it no?

During your membership of the CdeC, whilst voting on new citizens, would you use past experiences you have had with candidate, for instance in moderating to judge a candidate on his moderating history for instance (if you are a moderator), or could you put aside any differences you have experienced with the candidate and only judge or vote objectionably and perhaps on the candidates merits, instead of your personal feelings towards a candidate? Do feel have the integrity to deal with this? It does take effort to do so!
Im not a moderator. But I would look no further than 6 months back onto the applicant behavior. Anything further back than that is not counted for by me.

I never judge people on things that have happened in the past, they will be judged on there contributions, if they have no active warnings they will be attend to as members with a clean slate.

Well that used to be good manners was that when one was personally involved they would write an objective evaluation (i can do that) and then Abstain just to be fair.

I bring the experience of three consecutive terms on the CdeC, as well as several terms when I was a senior staff member and admin; as well as at least three or four cumulative years on staff. I feel all of that and my lengthy time spent on TWC makes me a good judge of members and their behavior, particularly as it pertains to the CdeC duties I've carried out many times before. I also provide a valuable adult entertainment service to my fellow CdeC members, and I provide the coffee*.

I believe that past moderating does have some effect on your opinion of the candidate, because their run-ins with moderation staff tell you something about their character and will to follow the rules on TWC. However, I would not hold warnings that are at least six months old against a user, because the Constitution dictates that six month old warnings have no bearing on Citizenship applications. I would consider notes, though, as a general judge of their character.

I am confident I would be able to vote objectively on 99% of candidates, and for that remaining 1% where I felt strongly for or against a candidate because of personal issues, I would abstain.

Well, I would like to serve for as long as I remain active and want to do it on the CdeC, so that's a goal. Also, my medal would turn silver, and I think that would look lovely.

*Which means that I employ impoverished victims of the 2008-2009 global financial crisis to deliver coffee or an approved coffee substitute± to someone who may or may not be a member of the CdeC.

Personal experience with a candidate is always helpful and useful, so long as it stays objective - so yes, like every other CDeCer, I'd take that into account. However, what I will, and always have, been sure not to do is to not be unduly influenced by that - which is to say, not to be more prejudiced against a member because they had offended me in some way, than if they had offended someone else. If there ever was I time when I really couldn't be impartial, I would definitely abstain. But I doubt that would ever be necessary - I know I can remain objective.

I think personal experience with a member should be used in judging if they are suitable for Citizenship. I don't think anyone would argue against that. I would not, however, take into account their personal stances on matters, such as religion or their positions in debates, but I would take into account the manner in which they expressed and argued for them. The CdeC is not here to judge if anyone's particular beliefs are correct or not, but whether they have made a positive addition to the community. A positive addition could be in the form of differing opinions well argued, so I would count the well argued part, but not the differing opinion.

Though I have not patronised anyone yet, I am on the lookout. I have looked at several members, but then dismissed them as candidates. I think that the ability to judge, without prejudice, someone's potential or contributions, is vital to this role, and saying no is as important as saying yes. Though my actions in this regard are not public, they exist, and I think that gives me some, limited, experience. I would stress my role as Editor of the CQ, and writer for the ES, though, as that has given me an executive position, where good judgement of character is important, and I think I have carried out my two roles in those publications well. They also give me experience in aspects of the site, and the contribution of members, which may not be wholly noticed by most members of the CdeC, and that would give me a somewhat privileged position in bringing knowledge and experience with and of users which they might not have.

Well, I've been here nearly 2 years. A citizens for almost 1 of them. I am very familiar with every section of this forum. I am too active on this forum if you could say that. I am on at least 5 hours of the day. I guess you could call that dedication

I'm an oldie, my experience stems from RTR, EB, SPQR and so on but when I was in HEx i worked alot with modders via eagle standard interviews and putting their updated on the front page. I think that I can spot a good modder who deserves civitates status.

I also believe as a member of CdC I should actively seek out people who deserve the title, but obviously I should abstain in their votes

Modders work hard. I like it hard. Work I mean.

As I stated in my previous post, I stalk other members so I can patronize them.

1. I have a general knowledge. I was a content writer for the ES for quite a while and nearly every month I either reviewed a Mod or interviewed the creator of one. Someone who has put alot of time and effort into a good mod deserves citizenship, and I would vote on them to pass (considering the the work they do of course.)

2. I would still seek out those who do well in the community. Even though I would be in the Judges chair, there is no reason not to offer those who deserve it a chance, regardless of what position I hold.
