Updates on V3

No Im afraid no banzai resources will ever be used in Thera.

The faction stories are a strange mix of homages to my favourite legends, historic stories, and some of my own inane wonderings,

Good to know about the stories and a bit sorry for banzai, but I know why so no problem. Just continue to upgrade this already excellent mod.
 
On the cavalry for dominion, they would be unstoppable if there was even one unit of Uruk or Ly Kan cavalry. Do remember that you can get ZOR Cavalry to do the mopping up after battles to capture prisoners and thin down enemy survivors. And whilst an Ancient Egypt faction would be cool, do remember that the mod is currently at unit capacity. At the moment, any faction that is removed would upset the balance of power and spark mega empires really early on.

Well it would be possible if somebody had the time to create the faction and make all the new units. However, they would have to replace a faction with the new one, and delete the old faction's units. It would be cool to have the Barka Sultanate replaced with an ancient Egyptan faction, although that would take allot of work.
 
The thing is, there needs to be enough muslim factions to make Jihads workable. And if the hypthetical Egyptians were Muslim, that just wouldn't be Egypt would it? Also, what kind of egypt would it be without the voices stolen from the Mummy or something? Not to mention that the faction's backgrounds are interwoven and some other factions would need changed backgrounds as well. Then the Egyptians would need to be made to agree with the overall storyline. There are references to Egyptian gods and whatnot in the fluff, you know.
Better candidates for new factions, if it were possible (Which it's NOT) would be the Graeco/SPARTA kingdoms, R[DEL]o[/DEL]han (Hard to get the 'o' with a line through it :( ), the Sumari tribes, or the Medicii Italian guys. In other words, factions that already exist in the fluff.

I ain't a modder, that's just what I've already been told when I gave similar suggestions. It's the way it is sorry.
 
but thats the thing that we all love about this mod. its historical but not historical. i mean look at the romuli they worship the sun god:tongue:. so i see no reason that ancient egypt faction couldn't be muslim pluse i rekon the muslims needs a fation to mix things up. like the kwarzarians mix up the muslims in SS with heavy cavelry and heavy infentry. Maybe even a mix of ancient and crusader type eygpt. now that would be cool mummy pheroes guard fighting along side mumlikes :woot:.

My point is that it is possible to put another type of faction in, although you would need to replace another one with it, along with the unit slots.
 
Im with crazyguy1916 definatly would be cool to have a unique egyptian faction in the mod. infact if i had full support from TheFirstONeil and the mod team i would be more then willing to lead the first Addon Mod for thera. with exams over at the end of the week and the rest of the holidays times not an issue.

The addition of another faction would unbalance the AI expansion, each faction currently has a set amount of rebel settlements surronding them to allow the AI expand early on. Throwing in another faction isnt difficult, maintaining a good mod balance that helps the AI provide the player with a decent challenge is where the real art of modding is. Im happy with where V3 takes this.

The Tahar have had a shake up for version three gaining some good and powerful new units, they will prob be the strongest of the muslim faction in V3

So I'm sorry but I wont be giving permission for any non-development team sub mods at this point.

This isnt for any ego reasons, but rather I always attempt to give complete support to users, once people start adjusting the base game, I cannot offer this support, since I cannot replicate their game situation if the filesets are not the same.

One thing that I have always been proud of is the lack of CTD issues with Thera. The mod is VERY stable, I cannot continue to maintain this level of stability if poeple are plugging unapproved sub mods into it.

(also Many Romans (especially soldiers) followed Mithras ,the god the romuli follow in the mod, Mithras was a sun diety)

fair call on the technical support and all good mate ;). i just mean that the kwarzarian empire really breaks up the muslim steriotype of fast cavalry and low armor compared to europians. the tahar update though sounds awsome.:thumbsup2 and on the note of the new faction its not what i mean. I mean we keep the curent Barka sultanate but add to the faction really make it stand out from the crowd. On the note of the Romuli empire its a shame u didnt call them the rumuli empire in check with the wolf that raised the twins.

To me the Barka needed to stay relatively vanilla, much like the Pale Knights have, as I see their part of the map as the crusades area. So the only real changes were giving them easier access to their more elite units.

The Tahar were chosen for the big changes as they are local to the Valiente and Faust who are more modern.

The Vashta have added availabilty to slav type troops as they have presence on the Slavia Island (and have new Slav ZOR

One of the founding reasons I first started making Thera (as a personal mod at the time) was I wanted to be able to play multiple era's in one game. This was becasue I would watch a film and then want to play in the era the film was set.

So Id watch Kingdon of Heavan and want to play crusaders, or I'd watch sharpe and would want to play a gunpowder game, or Gladiator and Id want to play as romans, or 13th warrior so vikings,, etc. This was the inital motivation for the mod.

I hope this helps explain why some factions remain fairly close to their vanilla roots. ;)

Another question, but does the Northern captain strat model have the black sword anymore, or did that get fixed?

Sorry but that is one of them changes that would achieve nothing, except for the requirement to edit a loads of text files, so kind of pointlless in my eyes.

The twin were remus and romulus, why whould you name the empire after the slain twin rather than the victorious twin. That makes no sense ?

Besides the faction is already well known under their Romuli name, which I still beilve sounds much better.

. Btw Just puting something out there because u have Islam i havnt found the thera version of mecca and Kabbal does it exist?

As explained in game Bae Eden is the holiest of cities for both the followers of the cross and the crescent.

Hello, I've been thinking about the Romuli and I was wondering will they still be able to train the Uruks in V3? The reason I ask is being sworn enemy's now (after the little falling out during the Great Torment etc) I was thinking maybe they shouldn't be able to train them anymore. Anyway just a thought, looking forward to playing V3:).
