Darth BAI

Are wooden stakes in or out for IS 2.1? They're still in for custom battles, so if you test this using a custom battle, you'll likely get different results than in campaign as stakes seem to mess up a formation with light infrantry when they suddenly decide to fall back and plant them around cannon, then rush to catch up to the advancing line. This was my experience when I tried this briefly yesterday.

There are no stakes in IS. (except for the pre-battle fortification stakes in the campaign.) Light infantry do not have stakes in IS. Also thanks Fuzzibo, I'll test that with IS asap, and report what I find.

ok,i think it wont work for is2.1. tested 2 custom battles. the comp hold formations and marches in line :thumbsup2 but he goes in melee as soon as possible:thumbsdow. modteam: is it possible to make it is2.1. compatible?:hmm:

I've been testing it, it is IS 2.1 compatible. Seems to help, but I haven't tested it enough to be conclusive. Had a good custom battle English Vs. French. They tore out my center with their cavalry, then deployed their infantry in the gap and the shoot-fest began (really clever tactic, actually, dividing my forces like that. Let them kill my Arty it did.) Unfortunately for them I had the artillery advantage (I got lucky and took out their guns in the first 30 seconds of the battle...) so victory was assured.
Highlanders helped, too.
Another battle I've fought was a mini Sweden Vs. Russia (campaign battle). The Russians were determined to shoot it out, and might have won (they had guards) but I had artillery. With canister shot.

hm sounds interesting:). i dont know, what this mod changes exactly. but i guess, its something with the unit-tabs. so, its designed for darthmod units. it needs to adapt to is2.1. but u see the difference to vanilla bai. need more tests.

Darthmod Formations only changes GroupFormations.patch, something that IS leaves untouched. It is therefore fully compatible. The only question is how effective it is, which remains to be seen.

I'm going to combine both + IS. We can only hope TCA gets a coder as good as or better than Darth for the N:TW BAI.

You are going to use his BAI/Formations and add it to IS? I'm currently testing his formations. I hope that both of them work well. Be sure to keep us updated on whether or not that works, and how well it works. Just the formations mod appears to help, but I haven't tested it sufficiently to say for sure.

Well, I saw some minor improvements with Tan Zhi Han's Darthmod-sourced BAI mod, and I'm hoping adding the formations will make a good difference.

I'm assuming when I change the user.empire_script file I just add "mod darthmodformations.pack;"and not "mod darthmod.pack;" as it says on the page. I'll try it out and hope that it exponentially improves my BAI, and if not, I'll kill this so-called modder with a spoon ( a sharp one)!

Okay... it works. And it's really good. I just had an epic battle where the enemy actually used their cavalry to mass charge my weakened infantry, routing them. I then used my superb Swedish cannons and my jagers to harass their infantry, routing the rest of it, and some of their cavalry. Their cavalry charged my cannon and was met by my general. Miraculously, we routed the cavalry. However, I saw a cannonball and a flash of powder and my general was killed by flying shrapnel. They mustered the last of their line infantry and charged my artillery head on, meeting a full round of canister. However, the artillery were too few and they ran.

Yeah, I've been having some really fun battles with DarthFormations. I would advise any IS player to get it and use it. Just the DarthFormations sub-mod. It's fully compatible, and very useful. Kudo's to Darth on that.

Just tried a custom battle on the Austrian Pinnacles using it, nothing real special. I've been reading some comments over on the DM forums however and it seems as if it doesn't really do much for custom battles but does wonders for campaign battles.

Custom battles are improved slightly, campaign battles slightly moreso. It is not night and day, it's more of night and early morning. Still good, but not uber-super-best-thing-that-ever-happened-tastic. If you get my drift. Use it, but not as a crutch.

Yep, I get what you mean.

Yes. But I think it actually gives the AI a spine in addition to a brain, if you know what I mean (you probably don't ). Still a simple brain, but a working brain. Also, "uber-super-best-thing-that-ever-happened-tastic." I need to write that down.

hey, got a good battle against wurttemberg in the GC. 1 unit attacked my full stacked french army. the reinforcement troops of wurttemberg (also a fullstack army) joined the battle and builded up a nice line. their general attacked my weakest unit. i will post some screenshots soon (have to find out, how to use gamecam:whistling). there was no melee attacks or chickenruns!:thumbsup2
someone tested the bai-behavior of reinforcement-troops?

regards

The quickest way of screen shots is to use the "prt scr" button and then paste them in paint...
