Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Italian States, you say?

Genoa is a known problem, and has to do with one of their units causing the CTD.

As far as I'm aware, the Italian States is news to us. If you could note which units are in those armies causing the CTD, it would help us narrow down the problem quite a bit.

Thanks for the answer. Italian states, I CTD three times, all happen at my first battle and I CTD half way during my battle, I used save/load method, which it worked. I will double check again. Thanks!

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Alright,

Just had a bug regarding the south America Militia, every time I used them the battle froze and CTD.

I tried the same battle 3 times and 3 times it crashed, then when I removed them from my stack it all went smoothly. battle took place near Texas.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

I haven't read the whole thread, and I'm not sure it's a IS specific bug, but when you double click a school, the learning one not the church one, the game crashes.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Hey,
when playing with Venice or Savoy, if I construct or conquer a Trading port it doesn't work. Still says that all my home ports are at full capacity in the diplomacy menu and I get no dotted lines to and from that port. I tried installing IS 2.1 but it does not fix the problem. Does anybody have any ideas ??
Thanks

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Hi there, quick issue.

Playing as Italian States
During the game my people began to use their noggin and quickly discovered that monarchies are stupid and they dont need to listen to the guy on the throne. A revolt ensures and people power wins, soon turning into a Republic.

However when I go to check my relations with everyone im horrified to realise everybody except
Genoa (republic) hates me with a relation of -138 due to Different Government type. Now my reason for thinking this is a bug is mostly due to the fact most nations were friendly with me before the revolution and -138 just for giving the crown a boot is a little harsh and not sensible for any nation. Everyone seems perfectly fine with Genoa being a republic.

Hope it helps.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.:)

First i have to say that the Italian states are not supposed to be playable, you can play as them, but the faction have not been revised or balanced for the player, you can of course play it at your own risk.

About the relation penalty, that is something from vanilla, not IS. It represents that, in a revolution, you kill the faction leader. This means all the absolute and constitutional monarchies hate you, much like happened historically with revolutionary france.

In your case you would have killed the Pope, so it would be even worse. Republics don´t hate you because they are republics and have no king, they don´t care if you kill your king and become a republic.

So i disagree, i think it fits perfectly and it is not unbalanced that you get a relation penalty with other monarchies after killing your king.

Hope i was helpful.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

lol thanks for that. Ye I wouldnt be too impressed either if someone knocked off the religious figurehead of my religion. Thanks for the welcome, and enjoy the mod alot ;)

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Just wondering Vicar if the artillery issues with Sweden have been fixed??

As I encountered it just the other day with 'cronstedt' 6 pd horse artillery. Began the battle unlimbered and they just sat there with melee on. I could however click on the ground to make an attack but all they did was carry out their firing animations with NO actual firing occuring.
Also Im not sure if its intended but I got the 'cronstedt' 6 pounders and the normal 6 pounders after researching horse artillery and NOT the reforms yet.

Edit: well I found out my problem, I had Cackle of Musketry mod on and that does not seem to have the minor fixes of the hotfix, which added ammo to the swedes.

Still investigating the getting cronstedt horse early

Re: Imperial Splendour Technical Help

hey guys does campaign difficulty setting effect performance? I was just reading that the game is meant to be played on normal but im playing on hard and have had 2 campaign map freezes and one freeze in a battle in the first 6/7 turns.

It might contribute to the campaign map freezes (and does contribute to long AI turns) as the ai gets a ridiculous amount of money, which means a ridiculous amount of stuff for them to do/have.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Sorry if this has been posted before, but mortars don't seem to fire in custom battles. Anyone else had this problem?

Oct.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Playing as Savoy, I captured England, Scotland and Ireland giving birth to US.

A few turns later, on US turn, the game crashed. Damn it I should've concentrated on the Americas first.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

I've fought the same battle in Courland as Russia, vs Prussia, 6 times now, 6 times it has crashed... the same thing happened earlier in the same campaign when fighting against the Ottomans... i resolved it by going back to a save a couple of years earlier and thus by not fighting the battle at all since the Ottomans attacked elsewhere. Both times I'm defending, both times I'm playing as Russia, both times the battles are rather large with 2 full stacks going at each other + reinforcing armies. Am using IS2.1, 4 turns per year, my related changes mod which merely changes recruitment & construction times, and FX5Lite. Specs are Q6600 Quad Core, 8800GT, 4GB RAM, 500GB HardDrive with 116GB free, Vista 32.

Anyone have any ideas what's causing this - this didn't happen before 1.5 and 1.5 compatible IS2.1

Crashes seem to occur when i target a unit, or order a unit to attack something.

Until this gets sorted my Russian campaign that I've invested so much time into will be at a standstill.

Edit: tried twice more and on the last attempt finally i finished it without crashing... would like to clarify that only that battle and the one before against the Ottomans have had the repeated crashes, equally large ones since have been fine.. something to look into perhaps given the similarities i said above.

Edit2: reinstalled, it fixed itself
Edit3: Actually.. it appears it hasn't... just happened twice more -.-
Edit4: My graphics card broke down completely... it's possible the issues have been related to that... though i have seen others with similar things happening to them so who knows.
Edit5: Same issue on my new Graphics card.. (260GTX)

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Hi guys,

Protestant missionaries don't seem to be spawning for Constitutional Monarchies, which IIRC was an old issue that had been addressed. I believe this was a vanilla bug. Can anyone confirm?

In agent_spawning_to_government_types_tables (from CA pack as there is none in IS 2.1) there is no record for Protestant_Missionary | gov_constitutional_monarchy | <chance>

This looks like the suspect. Trying a fix presently to confirm...

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

As Denmark, my nation does recruit missionaries... After building several churches in Austria that is.

EDIT: and as a Constitutional Monarchy (Denmark is one from the start)

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Hmm..OK, thanks for the feedback. I may be mistaken about it being the return of an old issue that required a fix and I'm just getting statistically unlucky and drawing a false conclusion. Perhaps the lack of entry in the table I mentioned is normal for an intended default value (1.0) as other entries seem missing as well for Constitutional Monarchy compared to AM and Republic (ie. gentlemen). I do see a '1' value for one of the Republic entries though.

Always learning :) I'll ask over in Mod Workshop.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

I'm not quite sure if this has been said or not, but Carronades have the same range as a fifth rate and Bomb Ketches can shoot on the move - even at full tilt.

EDIT: Another thing - building the Christianburg Slot disables the Danes ability to train Royal Guard units.

Re: Imperial Splendour Technical Help

I've had a bit of a problem with AI nations having too many units in their town garrison. This causes the game to freeze up, especially when ever a seperate 3rd unit tries to enter the town. This 3rd unit will try and try until it the game freezes, but I'm not sure it runs out of movements points before it freezes however.

I haven't managed to figure out exactly what makes it freeze yet as this happens very late in the game. I'm using the latest Imperial S. (2.1.2) along with the BSM 4 medium IS2.

Any ideas why this is happening and possible how it may be fixed?

I'm having a similar problem. I end my turn in the year 1747 while playing as Portugal and when it gets to Poland-Lithuania's turn the game crashes.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

That is a CA bug, which has been lurking around since release. Every patch the crashes get less frequent, but there is nothing we can do about them.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

Anyone else got this idiotic problem? I cant attack enemy forces when they are in loging camps mines etc. Feels kinda idiotic too have several thousand troops just outside with cannons and all the commander can say about attacking them is "cant do that" :thumbsdow.

The only times i can attack an enemy army is when they are in towns or on open ground.
Anywhere else and i just get that annoying "cant do that".

Re: Imperial Splendour Technical Help

Alright. Installed the mod and game crasges after launching it from steam. Uninstall the entire game and reinstall without the mod. the game still crashes. ANy ideas?:hmm:

Re: Imperial Splendour Technical Help

Hi guys, been grappling with this crash for a few hours and decided to finally seek some help after several installs and restarted campaigns. :(

This is the deal: I'm using IS and AUM (including the graphical addon). I've made sure that the AUM version is IS and it's placed at the bottom of my list. Clean install, no traces of other mods. Replaced the IS language file with AUM's.

IS is the latest version, and I'm using the modified startpos file that gives all minor factions major faction AI.

Playing as the Knights of Saint John, I invade Corsica in the first five turns and capture it; the land battle is fine. Afterward, I raid the trade route right to the east of the island and end my turn.

Here is where the problem lies: between turns the Genoan navy attacks me with a stack made up of several fifth-rates, an indiaman, etc. Since I know my fleet (the starting fleet) will get ravaged if I autocalc, I try to battle it out. The loading bar gets to around 95% done and then the sound stutters for a second and it crashes to desktop.

Recreating the battle in custom battle gives no problems, although I had to use other factions. The only ship I think I didn't test was the Indiaman; I tested Heavy Indiamen with no problems. Also fiddled with the graphic settings to no avail.

Any help would be much appreciated. :thumbsup2

The exact ships in the battle:

KoSJ (me):
1 5th Rate (Admiral's Flagship)
2 6th Rate
1 Brig

Genoa:
3 5th Rate (Admiral's Flagship)
2 Indiamen
1 Sloop

Update: I managed to attack a genoan admiral's 5th rate and a sloop with the starting fleet (up above) in a new campaign and it still crashes.

Re: Imperial Splendour Technical Help

I tend to have crashes in land battles. Now I do not know what is causing them, but my suspicion is that it is something to do with the new units in IS possibly??

I can do custom battles without problems, and in the campaign, it does not always happen. I noticed that most frequently I'll get the CTD during a siege battle when I am defending and/or when there are large armies involved.

Are there are any known issues regarding this?

Re: Imperial Splendour Technical Help

About the CTD in land battles, that's for me too.

EVERY time in the campaign I play a land battle (NOT an auto-resolve one), after a while (let's say a few minutes) it crashes. It happens mostly on artillery shots, but not only.

Custon land battles run perfectly, instead.

So, where can be the problem?

I'm using Vista Ultimate, 4 Gb RAM, GeForce 8600M GT (It's a MacBook Pro under BootCamp...:thumbsup2)
Installed Vanilla, patched correctly to latest patch, then installed latest IS as instructions say.
Using ModManager 1.5.
No other mods running.

Any help?

Re: Imperial Splendour Technical Help

I'm running ETW on WinXP and crashes are very occasional.
2GB RAM
NVIDIA 9500 GT
Core2Duo

I am facing the same problem only that... it doesn't crash but when attacking the Garrison, AI reinforcements do not come. (quite a cheat for me)

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

That is indeed odd, and I have not had this problem... in ETW, but I did have a similiar issue in M2TW. I solved that by moving right up to the unit i wanted to attack, waiting a round, then attacking the following round... not sure if this will help, but figured I would mention it.

Re: 2.1 Bug Reports

EDIT: Another thing - building the Christianburg Slot disables the Danes ability to train Royal Guard units.

I am here to report a similar problem- the great parliament of London allows the recruitment of the 1st foot guards, but not the Sommerset Palace.
