Re: The medieval Roman Empire's golden era...

not sure yet... i need to research more etc
PROBABLY not
i'd guess around 150 for a first release... then perhaps more later...
do either of these german guys speak any english? i'd speak german aber mein deutsch ist furchtbar!:laughter:

Re: The medieval Roman Empire's golden era...

Questions from the german community :
- what about the religions ?
- what about the pope ?

I was thinking about the Pope before. My idea was either to have all Christian factions subject to him, but some (Romans, Wessex etc) having extremelly bad relations... OR get rid of him entirely. The tenth century was, after all, hardly the golden age of the Papacy, and so there does not seem to be much need to have a Pope. After all, in Vanilla, basically all he did was call crusades, and as there were no crusades in our time period, there doesn't seem too much point in having him.... what do the others think?

As for "what's happening so far", I have taken on team leadership, and have started gathering a small team. We have assistance from CBUR, Bulgaria Total War, and Vacuus Lux Lucis for units, and several members of the Total War community, on the English and German forums have expressed an interest in helping out. Plus, I have been doing some research, and come up with a rough idea of regions and provinces, based on Euratlas. Which is below...

Oh, and for religions I was thinking Roman Orthodox Christianity, Celtic Christianity (was it still active at the time?), Paganism, Judaism, Shia Islam, and Sunni Islam. Can you suggest any others?

lol, don't worry they are
if you look really closely, you can see a little black dot between them :thumbsup2
i've counted the regions, and there are approximately 160 of them... give or take a few, it's difficult to keep track! So plenty of room for other suggestions, if anyone has any.

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

To be fair that´s about right!! to solve the problem we can make the other factions emergen or sort of or have rebels available for recruitment in those areas. and can you give me any other scandinavian faction that is not call "the viking", because to put the viking as a faction and then another faction beside it seems to be silly!! we can solve the scandinavian problem by making one "the viking "faction and the units name will be relevant to its own region!! how is that sound?

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

the maps looks great but we need a few more provinces
- 2 in Greece
- 2-3 East frankish empire
- 2-3 West frankish empire
- 1 in Egypt
the rest is ok
+rep

I put the religions in the german threat, ok ?

Thanks to B. Ward for changin Threat title

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

why do we have some many different factions in brittania and scandinavia??? I don't get it:P

If you're talking about the province map I proposed, not all of the coloured nations will be factions, that is just a template, as it shows many of the provinces of the time, making it easy to "carve up".

About extra provinces, remember there will be cities on Corcyra (Corfu) and Mytilene, as they were Roman themata at the time! So that gives the two extra Greek provinces. I agree with the extra Egyptian one, can anyone suggest a city? Same with the Frankish Empires...

I will try to "clean up" the map a bit, so that it only shows the playable factions in the mod...

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

Only Roman Christianity and Celtic Christianity ?
Not Catholic Christianity, Othodox Christianity and Celtic Christianity ?

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

Well the great schism didn't happen until 1054... I know there were plenty of divisions before this, but technically it was still the same church...
And I'm not sure if Celtic Christianity was even around then, does anyone know for sure?

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

You must choose at least one faction of each of those regions that will be active rebels(sub factions)!:)
It was state that there will be 4 factions but, i am thinking about the rest of the map , so the team have to decide which faction remain and which turn in to rebel! like fortrui could be emergen faction but it will be Alba by then!!! and also gwynedd could be the other one, and so we keep one saxon, one celtic, one emergen britonic and one norse that would be vassal of the viking faction whatever the name we give to the latest.

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

What about Larissa ?
Then Greece would be perfect
Add all three of them...
Larissa
Metilene
Corfu
It would give larger conflict area for both Byzantines and Bulgars!

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

Personally I see no reason not to keep three or four factions in the British Isles, after all, unlike most of the rest of Western Europe, Britain was still made up of squabbling kingdoms in this period, the Dark Ages were darker here than in most other places.
And Larisa will be added in the next map edit I do. Currently, I am colouring in all the "rebel" regions in grey, a slow and boring job, considering I am using Microsoft Paint!

That sounds really good! Could you ask him if he could make us a campaign map based on the rough sketches I have produced??

Icedie, the main team members so far are you, Icefrisco, Kornflakes and I, plus Anthonius II and Gogo T, who are helping us out. In addition to this, there are the German members Kornflakes has told us about...

And also, is this map of the Danelaw in 900AD accurate? If Wessex is one British faction, what other three do you suggest?

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

@Kornflakes
I thought that you're in the team too, aren't you?
and you understood wrong ( Sorry I'm from germany simple past or past perfekt??) I'm not able to create new unit-skills, but maybe you didn't mean that

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

Ive never said that that you are able to creat new units

of course I'm in the team (look at Giorgios last post )

What about a own sub forum
we need one !

I#'m already here!

@Kornflakes oh sorry I thought you have written "your team" but now I see it's "our team"
I was not sure about "change unit skills" so I said it again

Re: Golden Ages : Total War

Hello KnightoftheNine, welcome to the team! What modding skills do you have?

And Kornflakes, I'm pretty sure we have to wait three months for our own sub-forum. I'll PM a moderator and ask...
