Following the success of The Iberian Conflict (TIC), Team-RTR is proud to announce the identity of its next campaign: Rome Total Realism: Fate of Empires (FOE).

FOE will focus on the titanic struggle for dominance and survival in the western Mediterranean, starting during the 3rd Century BC. The campaign will relive the conflict between the major powers vying for influence there. Later this year, Rome Total Realism will bring you the opportunity to relive, refight and possibly rewrite the outcome of this epic slice of classical history!

Will you lead the legions of Republican Rome, or will you support the followers of Baal? The choice will be yours. Be a part of it!

RTR fans are amongst the most loyal people you could hope to meet, and we want to reward your patience and keep you in the loop. So over the coming months we will be providing you with regular previews and updates on our progress.

Tune into the RTR forums and keep your finger on the pulse ... the first preview will be with you very soon!.

As the beta testing of FOE gets underway in earnest, we are going to begin using this thread to bring you ad hoc tidbits of information and gossip from the testing front line, so to speak.

We hope that this will give you all even more of an insight into what's going on behind the scenes. :)

Re: Rome Total Realism: Fate of Empires - announced!

Never, never. Except in 2012, but the world's ending then anyway, so give us a break.

So many cults have predicted that the world will have ended numerous times in the past. The strange thing is a lot of them are disappointed that it didn't happen..... :(

Hehe - well I guess we'll take some time off to watch the London Olympics but then it'll be back to work with the Empire engine and making sure that Caesar's legions don't go into battle armed with Brown Bess muskets and wearing tricorn hats. :laughter:

Well, you guys have no more than 3 years to pump this awesome looking mod out, as I will want at least a full year of Carthage v Rome before we all DIE.

Is this some kind of joke? The rtr forums were easily the best total war related forums (much better then twc) by far and the community there was great. As much as I really like rtr 7.0 I hate how for some arbitrary reason they were abandoned which was far better.

Still, I think I'll be reinstalling total war now.

I think Tony just meant the RTR forums here at TWC.

The RTR forums weren't abandoned, per se, as there were many crashes and insecurities, and in the end, for stability's sake, it was decided to move back to TWC. TWC has the masses.

I agree though, the old RTR forums were great, but we've made our home here now.

Re: Rome Total Realism: Fate of Empires - announced!

I know he meant the twc. As you can see in my post.

The RTR forums are several stages were as big as the twc. I mean you had way better aars, a mp community, much more rtr discussion, better mods etc. I mean the crusades practically died with the rtr forums and that mod had some of the best battles known to man.

I remember when we used to have 3v3 battles (I didn't so much as I was wrong timezone... but I could get plenty of 1v1s) all the time. Every time the RTR forums went down the community died for a little bit... and then it came back at least thats better then now though. I haven't played a match in a year because there is no one that actually plays it at all anymore and its such a great mp game. I remember how strategies used to come in and out of fashion... not because they were overpowered, but because of the way people played and how it just meant how dynamic the mp was.

The state of the RTR community atm is just sad.

Like most people I 'grew up' with the RTR forum. I was aware of TWC and may have even used it to find RTR.

The numerous problems with the RTR forum were a real pain in the backside (it was even worse trying to help out with the moving of over 10K threads back into the forum when they had lost their headings). Many people did make it over to TWC during the outages. It's just a shame that more did not make the transition.

The facilities are here for people to post pretty much what they posted on the old forum. Obviously, a lot of information was lost with the access to the old forum. I have been told that everything had been backed up so it's not lost.

There are some people who play MP with TIC. Some of the activity was triggered by the MP competition that was being run. We are using Hamachi to work as a virtual lan. Maybe that is something to work from (a small number of people playing the game).
