Greetings!
I have scanned the forums to find the appropriate section for this post and hope this is it rather than the EB mods section - well here goes:
I would very much like to try on the 'Senate & People of Rome', only the difficulty rating is preventing me from doing so.
I have previously played RTR, -"- Gold, -"- Platinum ed., as well as other mods intended to simulate history, while providing somewhat of a challenge, and was delighted to immerse myself in EB, partially due to the level of historical accuracy and attention to detail. However, after having trounced my traditional enemies and subjugated other peoples in the vicinity, playing as Pontus in my FIRST EB campaign (VH/VH), I would like to try out the Roman Republic. Only, to do so, I need to raise the bar in terms of the challenge.
To do so, I have attempted to roll back the starting date to pre-Samnite & Etruscan wars timing (ie pre-300BC), when Latium was the only region under roman control. I have modified the descr_strat.txt document, by moving all roman provinces except latium under settlements, to slave domain, while ensuring family members are all moved to latium province.
Having done so, I delete the map.rwm file under \EB\Data\world\maps\base\ yet when I start a single player campaign, I am unable to save. Any insights as to what is causing this? Have I created discrepancies between the descr_strat file and the EBTrivialScript or is something else the cause of this?
:hmmm:
Next step would be to create challenging Samnite & Etruscan armies to confront and raise the spawn rate of brigands to further elevate the challenge, and whatever else I might come up with.
I would very much appreciate any and all help, as this is my first foray into modding of RTW (aside from moddeling, unit creation and RTW Shell).
