Will be spells in rise of mordor and how?

could Gandalf and others istari like Saruman do some spells and is it possible?
I already read previews discussions but i want to know more about it

I'm not sure. Currently we can't edit voices ingame so at the moment it's impossible.
Though, if we could, it should had been done.

Could you make the generals have some special abilities that give buffs to your soldiers stats and morale?

Well I don't know another way. Though animations it will be very long and complicated, through visual effects its unnatural and doesnt fit ME, so voice and some morale effects is best.

We could have magic wielders throw fireballs or something =P It would probably look pretty silly though if they did a javelin animation and a fireball came flying out.
Or we could make like a bolt of fire/lightning come out. I know one guy made a molotov cocktail unit for Rome 2, it looked pretty cool.

I'm not promoting this thread. I just want to know if the suggestions in this thred is possible, bacause I m also hoping for somekind of spells and magic in the mod. Its Fantasy afterall.

I am not too much into Middle Earth lore so anyone feel free to correct me, but didnt Tolkien avoid including blatant magic in his works ?
Even wizards like Gandalf and Saruman didnt go around throwing fireballs.
Not that I mind personally, it would be cool to have that.

Yeah jim, you are absolutely correct and this is the way we want to follow. No fireballs, no weird visual magic. None of it.

They only did such if they had too, and then fireballs wasn't exactly what they were going for.

Magic was more unseen than seen in Tolkiens work. But we do see a few things :
#1 Manipulation of light (ie by gandalf with the nazgul and with the balrog
#2 Change of height or stature as to increase strength (ex, gandal before the wolves near moria seemed to grow very tall)
#3 Change of voice so as to be more persuasive (saruman)

it seems that most magic was used to affect things we already do, like speek and talk and run (ie the "magic of the elven bread) to increase sprits (the magic of the file of galadriel) so most of the magic in middle earth can be used as simple buffs and debuffs useable by specific characters, and that is what we will implement if possible. No fireballs.
