Hey folks,

Just my latest brain-fart here...

I love playing campaigns as England in Stainless Steel where I have no notions of global conquest; just domination of the British Isles and a 'gateway' to Europe in Caen; enjoying the complexities of micro-managing a mini-kingdom.

But it occured to me after seeing the Irish/Welsh WIP mod that my kingdom is only ever at threat from the Scottish, Norway, and native rebels.

Wouldn't it be great if a submod was created that was basically Stainless Steel, as it is, but focusing on the Britannia campaign? Maybe use the same map, or even develop another one to hold more settlements?

I have 0 knowledge of modding so don't look at me; but hopefully some hot-shot modder may look at this suggestion and go "YES!" ;)

And this could be lifted by a modder and have Stainless Steels' make-up (and presumably a Welsh/Irish/Scottish/English/Norwegian unit roster) laid onto it? That'd be sweet.

I would support this. Also some people were talking about making a mod of Ireland around 1300-1500 and having the various clans, and Norman invaders etc, if something like that might stroke your interest.

Morning all,

It's 4:30am, I can't sleep, and I'm reading over my old threads.

I'd still be very interested in the development of this submod?

To clarify, my thoughts were to apply the gameplay changes and mechanics of Stainless Steel (and a BGR sub mod!) onto the Kingdoms: Britannia map, or a re-make of said map. In short, Stainless Steel focused on the Britannia campaign.

I can't mod myself, and have no time to do so; nor am I demanding its creation from the SS modders who have given us so much of their time already.

Just wondering if there are any modders out there giving this serious thought?

THere are quite a few mods already out that deal with the british isles. Theres Rule Britannia that is keeps basically most of the vanilla gameplay from britannia but adds a lot to that. Theres the Last Kingdom, a britian dark age mod, theres also Princes,Kings and Heros or something to that effect in Develpoment.

I don't think you realize the amount of work your asking for. I've only modded a few units and things and those take a couple hours to complete. Your asking for a enitre backwards compatable roster and new regions/map would take thousands of modding hours

I'm sure it would; I'm aware of the massive work involved - just asking if anyone's considering taking it by the horns.

I don't know if this is relevant but I've developed a submod of my own that I use when playing England. I have a system of ancillaries that give generals titles. Sons of kings are princes, sons of heirs are minor princes, sons of paternal decendants are dukes. Men who marry princesses are either earls or marquesses depending on if they are foreign royalty or not. Their sons become earls or viscounts depending. The list goes on and on. I'm still working on lots of bugs etc but the pictures used are historically accurate coronets (even if I cant seem to make them look awesome). I know it's a niche but it makes for a pretty fascinating family tree. There are also barons and lords depending on if a character marries a plain woman or a royal envoy.

Well I'm doing it however it's outside SS as a stand-alone mod. The thing is in order to make an historically accurate mod/submod, we need to clean alot of stuff from vanilla and doing it almost entirely from scratch. For now, WotW is under development for about a year and a half and with all that time, we did almost half the work. It's not an easy task but if a team persevere, they can reach their goal! :)

I'm personally looking much forward for WotW, even if progress have been slow lately :)
