My hometown club, Ferencvárosi TC also has a handball section, and they were playing against Dinamo Volgograd in the EHF Cup Winner's Cup. Result: 34-26, and some awesome support in an arena like this...:thumbsup2
Match & anthem starts past the 7th minute.

what are those screams at 0:18? sounds like someone being murdered.

other than that, pretty nice. handball always seems to attract a huge crowd in romania and hungary for some reason.

I'm female and I've been a Hajduk Split (Croatia) supporter since I can remember.
Torcida 1950!

Yesterday was the great Turkish derby - Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce... Galtasaray's fans made one awesome choreography...

What about fans throwing snowballs at other fans?

Philadelphia fans suck.

What a bunch of !

Fair enough if a few are thrown, but that was out of order. Doubt they'd have been so smart if they weren't as far away and there were more away fans in the group.

Unfortunately we lost. 1-2. They came four times and got two goals. We had 20+ chances to score but got only one goal. It was just like Barca - Real match, however Real had more chances. Gods of ball does not like yesterday evening.

HEY! We Yanks aren't silly. We only play a game with our hands and call it Football, while renaming the game played with our feet......Oh yeah, nevermind :whistling

What do you mean renaming? We didn't name it Soccer, the Brits did.

It's short for Association Football. People started calling it that before Association Football became the most dominant kind, and there were other types being played all over the world that also went by the name "football", including Rugby, Austrailian, American, Gaelic, etc.

Like all things, we Americans simply do it better...

Total weak sauce. Im embarrassed for you for even posting that.

As an American whose been to all American sporting events (nfl, nba, nhl, mlb) no American sports fans as a group compare at all to the best football (soccer) fans around the world.

In America college sports have way better fans and atmospheres than professional sports for the most part (at least as far as passion and interaction with the game is concerned). Still none of them really compare to the passion and chants of footy fans around the world.

1:20 onwards in this:

following up from the comment on US College crowds:

To be honest that seems really cringe-worthy to me (as are most American attempts of creating an atmosphere during a game).

I was going to make a post earlier explaining just this fact but was too lazy. I'm not big on ultras but there's a big difference between the actual attempt to make an atmosphere and get hearts pumps outside of the US compared to what seems to be an attempt to have "good ol' family fun" at events inside the US.

In other words, an obese and a soccer mom in the front row clapping with other people or a few thousand people jumping around like morons to a song being played over loud speaker doesn't even kind of come close to a stadium full of people singing "I just can't get enough" and jumping around. Atmosphere is not created by a stereo. Songs are played over the loud speakers at American stadiums because there would just be silence otherwise

It's all very simple, Americans go watch sports that are exciting enough to be entertaining on their own, we don't come to the stadium and have to provide our own entertainment :whistling

EDIT: Also, in American Football at least, the fans can actually impact the game by participation, and it's not some "intimidation" garbage that never works. If fans are loud enough when the opposing team is on defense, it's difficult for them to communicate in the huddle, and makes it impossible for them to communicate on the line of scrimmage. If you have a good crowd they can cause several false starts in a game.

Meanwhile, you want your crowd to be reasonably quiet while your own team is in the huddle or at the line.

I remember an old fan of the Washington Bullets who would relentlessly abuse opposing players and coaches when they came to visit in attempts to intimidate and put them on tilt. He got quite famous, for a fan.

AH! Robin Ficker was his name. One of the most famous sports hecklers ever.

*Made in America

hahahaha

Were the Colts or some other team not fined a while ago for actually playing crowd noise over the sound system? :laughter:
