I would very much like to hear if you play a vanilla or modificated version of Empire Total War.
You are also very much welcome to post why you use modifications and wich mod you prefer.

Vanilla ATM.

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

I never play vanilla anything since first downloading RTR for Rome Total war. Why would I?
If the base game seems to interest me, I buy it, but I don't bother playing other than to see what' new about the engine, until there are polished mods out.

For ETW, since the base game didn't interest me much, I didn't even buy the game until well after there were established mods already made for it. If there had not been, I would not have bought it. I will not buy Shogun until there are mods which appeal to me and create greater realistic depth (both superficially such as removing the clone army unit designs and in terms of complex diplomatic / economic gameplay)

I've never played anything but vanilla :)

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

vanilla but with topcats great mod so i can recruit highlanders as GB

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

Darth Mod Ultimate Commander.
Mostly for the more varied unit skins. I especially like how he's given the ranger units tomahawks, as they adopted a lot of native fighting techniques during the French Indian Wars.
Also, Darth Mod UC adds more varied unit officers and gets rid of that atrocious San Francisco night club trimmed beard that the vanilla officers had.

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

Hello,

About 50% of the time vanilla with all of my favorite mods; the other 50% DMUC.

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

The vanilla version looks as though it's half finished, so I use mods such as better smoke, blood, musket fire and grass.

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

Vanilla, but modded by myself to add balance and more realism

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

mods of course thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

I usually play with some sort of mod anymore. I do go on now and then to play a couple multiplayer battles in vanilla....and if I may boast I just had a very nice OttomansvsUSA victory! ..There's something about the Ottomans I just love to play as them in Multiplayer. :P :)

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

Guys. Vanilla means "no mods." It doesn't mean "not DMUC."
Yeah, ETF and DMUC both have their own launcher. :) When I play vanilla I thought I'm playing no mods. :laughter:

I have no idea how to mod files on my own. :laughter:

Vanilla - Apart from Bugs, the occasional crashes and a stuttery campaign map, theres nothing wrong with the game. Unlike medieval 2 total war - I don't really feel the need to modify or play a modified version of Total war games from Empire onwards.

Finally just this hour conquered the entirety of the campaign map in Empire with Prussia - what happened to total domination victory?

hello,

i assume that ishas taken you morethan 200 turns, if it has, then technically you have lost as you have to have 40/50 regions by the year 1800, in vannilla=200 turns

I played vanilla M2 for months before getting bored with it. Sure, siege battles were lame half of the time, but that just made the field battles all the more fun, and after a while I could easily ignore hard sieges (enemy troops outside the city mostly). Then I got SS and the game became godly.

Playing vanilla Empire became so grindy halfway through the campaign it felt like I was feeding my frontal lobe to a paper shredder.

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

Right now I´m incorporating my own little modifications into Empire Total War.
Wouldn´t be possible without the terrific tools made by honourable members of the community.
Certainly the whole concept of modding is revaluating Empire Total War.
I won´t buy the next Total War Game in the Series till some level of moddability for the upcoming title is established.

No, I won the actual campaign objectives by 1770ish turns, but yeah it took me quite a while to take every last territory. There are something like 137 regions in all i think. I kept playing in the hopes that I would get a total domination victory. Nevermind, enjoyed it all the same.

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

Modded. Didn't get Empire right away so by the time I did it was fairly well patched and I spent a while playing pure vanilla. However, before long I went with mods that improved the experience. Like some others here, that meant things like AUM3.2 and various other unit packs/re-skins, blood and smoke mod, flags mods... just to finish Empire off and make it more fun visually and to expand unit rosters. So far nothing like DMUC. Haven't felt the need to do that yet. Content with vanilla in terms of AI and basic gameplay for the most part. I think the limited unit rosters were the most disappointing for me but that is no longer a problem. Hoorah!

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

DMUC Pride.

Re: DO YOU PLAY A VANILLA OR MODDED VERSION OF EMPIRE TOTAL WAR

Modded. DMUC. :thumbsup2

TO SPAM CAPS, OR NOT TO SPAM CAPS.

That should be the real question here.

Esteemed Weary Ones as your facial expression reveals the deepest unhapppiness with me I will remove the capitalization of the title without hesitation. I hope this will put a little smile on your face. Perhaps you are willing to reveal if you prefer a modded version of the game. By the way I´m delighted to see that you seem to like Shakespeare!

"Friends, forum members, fellow Total War Gamers, lend me your ears; I come to bury the capitalization, not to praise it"
