Frankly I dislike the fact that Rhun seems to be the strongest evil faction right now! Both Rhun and Harad should (lore-wise IMO) be struggling to keep their lands and Mordor should be the only evil conquering powerhouse in these parts. They should more be adding to Mordor's invasions than ruling the map themselves...

Right now Mordor is a pussy compared to Rhun...


I have to agree. Lore-wise, Mordor is supposed to be the approaching doom that hangs over all Middle Earth: but in all the games I've played so-far, Sauron's realm tends to get bogged down in a slug-fest with Gondor, while Rhun casually jumps up and down on the dwarves and the Lake men.

I can see that it's a delicate balancing trick, not to risk overpowering Mordor. Is there some way to make Sauron's call to invasions more specifically target whoever is most annoying Mordor. At the moment you often see an invasion called to attack distant targets like Eriador or Rohan, while Gondor is happily ploughing into Mordor's home territory.

Interesting input with the "1 command per unit only" thing, that gave me an idea of writing a script for hardcore players. It could be either directy that or less radical version letting a plyer give instructions to a single unit only every ~1minute for instance. At this point I think it's at least partially implementable.

Anyone interested in some other limitations ? I already posted a script in SS/RR/RC thread, that gives 50% chance of turning off player's cursor when defending against siege and gates/walls are broken through.

Remember, not long ago the complaint was that Rhun was underpowered, and always getting beaten down by the Dwarves. Anyway, the recent trade goods additions provided by tier 2+ farms along with the extra King's Purse has made Rhun OP. You know it actually only takes a slight King's Purse adjustment to change the whole game balance.

Anyway, in next update, Rhun's KP has been nerfed, along with Eriador, Isengard and Harad to a lesser extent, and Mordor's boosted. Balance playtesting is going very well so far.

What happens next? Are your units grouped and put under AI leadership?

Remember, not long ago the complaint was that Rhun was underpowered, and always getting beaten down by the Dwarves.

That is (lore-wise) not a problem! As long as Mordor is a HARD nut to crack. Naturally, when the player is playing as Rhun it is different...

He is really right, medieval commanders, well even today's commanders, would kill for the degree of situational awareness we et by hovering over the batlefield and instantly transmitting orders to troops that are always obeyed.

So anything you can do in that line, that we could put together into some sort of 'hardcore' mode, sounds pretty good IMHO.

Didn't know about the player cursor thing in SS :)

With the extra population growth provided by hunting huts, those Mordor settlements really start to grow after a while. I'm at around 3010 in test game and after quite a slugging match with Gondor, Evil is starting to really get on top. Sauron has called 4 invasions already: E. Osgiliath, Dale, Minas Tirith, Byrig.

I'm not sure if I'd want to play like this but it does sound very interesting. :)

Today i reinstalled M2TW to install ur oct version of rr/rc for ss...so i will install the latest rr/rc for TATW also...just wanna know whether u have incorporated Razor's Eldar unit v3.0 in ur mod or its still v2.0 bcuz i m little bit confused since i have been installing the game for last 6 hrs....had to install M2TW twice due to some glitch while installing BC
PB plz answer to this n also when r u planning for next major update n will there be any new Swagara's unit in that update...i m waiting for a stable update to start my game(i thought this one was quite stable,but i just now said there will be a next update.....so)

There's always a "next update". :) Actually the Oct10 is probably more "stable" since it doesn't have the experimental economy tweaks. And since the next update will probably mostly be about refined eco bonuses I expect it'll be save game compatible.

HAven't installed Razor's units AFAIK, unless they were part of TATW 1.2 patch. I will be adding more of Sgawara's units, but I need to figure out how to do it with the limited number of hidden resources.

These are good news. Watch out that Mordor does not become OP or dominating too quick (maybe not before turn 80 so that 'good' faction player can have chance to confront Mordor in this later stage of game and so 'evil' faction player does not become bored that Mordor is leader in everything and that Mordor is taking care for everything).

I am for now temporarily against experimenting with things like afk cursor and similar, but like Captain I am curious, LOL. :)

But if this becomes indeed successful together with idea of 0 movement of non-important generals in cities over garrisons, then it will be pretty much different things than vanilla TATW, which will probably be to my taste and taste of our friends here, but not for taste of casual weekend TATW player, so this maybe need to be optional. :hmm:

How is going investigation of relationship modifiers/declaration of wars and execution/dread star progression for evil?

Hmm yeah I like those huts, cheap, bonus income and growth to ofset the usual abscence of high-chivalry generals (which really makes sense). Otherwise I don't really think Mordor is that powerful, although they certainly have cheap units and uruk raiders are decent in this sub mod.

As for overpowering Mordor, I for one don't really care. I in my game the AI Mordor completly swarms Gondor and later does the same to Silvans, that's a good game, as long as it doesen't happen too quickly. Lore wise everyone new the armies of Mordor together with it's allies would inevitable crush the good guys unless they destroyed the Ring or got some serious help from the Valar. This of course should be balanced somewhat so that the game is enoyable and an alternative history can take place with the help of the player.

How about making Rhun and Harad protectorates of Mordor? Has it been though of before? Will it make Mordor too powerful because of tributes? Could that be balanced by making Mordor less fertile? Right now Gorgoroth (the ash laden wasteland) has "high fertility" which isn't exactly lore.

But anyway this could help preventing Rhun and Harad from overshadowing Mordor, and really, they were tributary peoples of Mordor.

At the last, Point Blank you didn't comment on the dread traits that I posted in the previous thread, have you tested it yourself to see if it works?

Hi PB, a short question: What are the conditions that Sauron calls for an invasion? I'm wondering about that because i'm at turn 70 now, and no invasion-call by Sauron. I might look myself into concerning files, but a quick idea would be helpful. - I did some faction-standing/relation changes (sharpened between good and evil side), could it be, it is this?

Else, playing Gondor on VH/VH is actually hard, even without any invasion-calls by Sauron, the mod is pretty challenging :) In the meantime not only Harad invades the south of Gondor (as of yet i'm able to fight them back though from every town they have assaulted or captured), but also Isengard expands into the west of Gondor, tries to take Pinath Gellin, and took Allurond from me with a surprise-assault out of the dark, just garrisoned only with one unit ;) Well, Rohan is on the decline, might be their lands fall soon, they lost about 1/3 of their regions to Isengard, although i help them from time to time with money, and have one (small) army besides Edoras to help them there around. But Eriador and High Elves joined vs. Isengard. Besides this, Mordor permanently tries to take Minas Tirith (my elites though hold them back, but i must also say that the AI sucks in siege-attacks a lot, the AI doesn't work properly with citadel-sieges), formerly they took Cair Andros from me after i defended that for a long time successful. The two Osgiliaths: West is in hands of Harad and east in Mordor's. And, i'm allied with every single faction of the good side, and the good sides are doing alliances within.
Btw., Gandalf was obviously spawned for Eriador, my diplomat met him at a town where he and his men invaded a OMM region. Formerly (10 OCT version), Gandalf was spawned* to me at Minas Tirith besides Boromir, iirc - well, now only Boromir came.
Last but not least: The faction statistics show clearly that Mordor rules, that's good so. Isengard seems to follow into these steps, and then Harad. I like the campaign balance.

-When Gandalf the Grey dies he re-appears as Gandalf the White (quite a lot more powerful, a good match for the Witch King) in the service of Gondor

Got at turn 45 with Mordor in my last game but Sauron was still a no show, and so far no advanced units either. Maybe I'll load the game and just hit end turn until I get some or I hot turn 60... is it a limit how late Sauron (and Invasions) can appear?

Yes, Sauron showed up quite late in my campaign as well (after the 40s turns, somewhere in the 50s, iirc), and as said i'm at turn 70 and no invasion-call as of yet. I also would like to know such conditions a bit better, PB, perhaps you could (if known) by you, add some hints to this theme into the 1st post?

If you're not sure if Sauron has come out of the closet, just toggle the FoW and check the settlement in the top right corner. He should be there methinks.

Actually, Harad and Rhun already are protectorates of Mordor.
Rhun and Harad have had slight economy nerfs for next version.

Sauron appears on turn 40 or 41. Invasion calls are at his discretion, I'm not sure of what logic lies behind them. In my 124 turn Dwarf game, he has called 4 so far!

Yep its turn 40.

IMHO the most fun version of the game is the 'Peace' campaign, with advanced barrackes events turned off. Mordor is now producing stacks of Uruk Halberds, Uruks, Trolls and Uruk Archers, have even seen a few gold chevrons. Rhun is churning out Variags, Clan Horsemen and Clan Guard, Clan Warriors and Kataphracts - all very hard for Dwarves to handle.

Also, since all the invasions were called on me (holding East Osgiliath must have really been pissing Mordor off [the trick is ballista towers]) Rohan is dominating Isengard pretty hard, and it's thrown the game a bit off whack. If i was High Elves or Eriador, I'd be really bored at this point in the game.

Its just going to be different each game. In my current one, Isengard is #2 to Mordor, because all the other regional powers concentrated on the OotMM, giving Isengard a free hand.

How can add warcry and berserk to units ?

I'm not sure they work properly in Kingdoms but its worth testing.

I've just tested for you. It works perfectly with constant maximum speed over Download Manager used as downloader from Filefront. :)

Playing as Mordor attacking a rebel settlement I'm getting the following error when I start moving my units in battle:-

This garrison commander thing sounds ok to me but don't add the cursor turning off script or at least make it optional lake stakes in current version which is great.

I have a question about diplomacy. I am playing Gondor and have two settelments on the east of Dunland - Talsir and Long Daer (Endedwaith) In the first turns I begun with assigning trade rights with Isengard :D Yeah i know it is silly. I thought that I will trade for few turns -extra money and when they will attack Rohan or Rohan them I will cancel them. Now my reputation is mixed and i have relation problems with High Elves, Eriador and Dwarves. I have trade rights only with Elves beacuse that is the only good faction i have conection with. After I don't know 10-20 round i get "Poor relations" with three of them. Could you tell me why? I have war with Isengards like those other factions. They don't want to agree to be allies with me :hmm: I have exchanged map information with them as well.

Not for me. Every time I click on "Download Now" I get redirected to the previous site.

Love the mod! But personally the unit groups are just to large in the most massive battles for my poor comp to play as smooth as I would like with all options on high. I went ahead and cut all unit counts in half, which works great. Only trouble are the trolls, which for some reason I cant figure out. How would one reduce thier unit count?

You can also reduce the unit size from large to small
