In my Aragon campaign a Moorish army attacked me while i was seiging Valencia. In battle the Moorish general attacks my Spearmen so i send my spearmen and calvary to deal with him. He was almost invisible. Took out every unit i threw at him, mailed knights, generals bodyguard and spearmen and i lost a battle, he only lost two men in his grop of calvary......WTF

I thought the Moors weren't supposed to have very powerful heavy cavalry?

i think there is a hidden trait (in the traits file naturally :D) which gives AI generals more hitpoints (as well as command, loyalty many many other things) which might explain why they are so difficult to kill, i find artillary best for the job as not matter how healthy or physicaly strong a general it wont matter when there impaled by a balista bolt, flatened by a rock from a catapult/trebuchet or blown up by a shot from a cannon :P

I have experienced this before, especially muslims generals taking so much to kill.

Its only like turn 15

trust me, im playing a moorish campaign right now and im sieging Lisbon, the portuguese king attacks me in a battle that shouldnt be to hard for me but I honestly lose with mercenary spearmen and fully upgraded dism arab cav against his cavalry, its just an AI conspiracy not a muslim one.

why the hell would somebody make generals bodyguard so strong? Guess i have to autocalc with battles that have enemy generals

firstly i agree tht the general and his bodyguard are a handful, bt hey i rekon they should be!? how annoying is is when your general who supposably has the best horses, knights and armor gets taken down by some early eara spearman? i mean i beleive they should be able to swing a battle, plus we always have them too, and yes it's a gamble when you use you general in prolonged melee but oh so worth it when they win and kill 200 men and get great traits and the like :)

I very rarely have issues with the AI generals. I usually swing out two cavalry units wide, and sweep them around for the kill.

I wish i had your setup. In my there like gods almost invisible

almost every gen has valor, armor upgrades, morale upgrades, trait upgrades

your crapy peasant spearmen can't compete with that, it's all relative with the math system

plus the game is meant to be challenging lol stop wining about the gens already :)

I think they are fine. Powerfull yes. Especieally in early game but at least there arent many in a unit unles it is the faction leader. Just surround them.

What about 6.0 before the patch? They where really powerfull then.

too bad you couldn't play my game, you would change your opinion pretty quickly. Besides even with a "crappy peasant unit" over 20 stabs?? cmon lets get some common sense

I find the best unit to use is your general... first get some lower end spearmen to engage from the front then a few charges from your general from the flank or the rear will do devastating damage. Remember to fall back and recharge a few times though to get the bonus!!

EDIT: As for the "20 stabs from a peasant" those wooden pitchforks just slide off of plate armor!!!

umm........there Militia Spearmen and i used that tactic.......didnt work:no:

I think i found the reason why. My bodyguards defence was 19 and the moors bodyguard def was 23, moors attack was 10 and my bodyguard attack was 7.

I find my own general supported by a unit of knights is enough to do the trick. Usually casualties are steep and the battle is long, but it works.

AI generals may be strong, but Player Generals dont indulge themselves in Boiling oil baths
