Anyone know the concequences and benefits from entering a pact of secrecy?

So far as I can tell they always eventually ask you to mutually declare war on someone. You can respond to this war request by declaring war right away, waiting 10 turns to build troops, kindly breaking the secrecy pact or rudely breaking the pact.

Aff.

Played demo and even that lags. It's an awesome game so far, but I just don't know what to do with that lag...

Ramkhanhaeng has done it again. this is the third time he's done this to me.

the game starts, i'm Japan, they place him as far away as possible from me without fail each game; in two different games he was actually the farthest civ from me based on location.
his score rises abnormally fast, he starts blitzkrieging some civs and city states.
my army finally gets to him.

the fog of war reveals his units.
it's samurai vs RIFLEMEN.

this is going to suck.
:disgust:

Anyone else being unable to load a saved game recently? Since Steam downloaded something for Civ5 today, I have been getting a DX11 error, when I want to enter my saved games. Tried doing the same with the game in DX9 mode, but still got an error...:thumbsdow

I think i'm not going to play this game until they fix the every AI player declares war on you bug. Its clearly a bug, i mean it can't possibly be WAD. There is no reason why every AI, and I do mean every single one of them, declare war on me each chance they get. Its just stupid, its really not fun at all, its just :wub:ing annoying as . I mean is that what the game thinks King difficulty is? Prince = non existant AI, king = shoddy AI (i can take all of these on at once with 5 units) but they go on mindless rampages against the human player? :wub:ing annoying.

OMFG WHY IS EVERYONE DECLARING WAR ON ME WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS PIECE OF  GAME

Peace, 20 years EVERYONE DOW for 100+ TURNS, peace 20 turns EVERONE DOW FOR 100+ TURNS REPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEATREPEAT For:wub:ingever. Back to the bargin bin go game, you. RTW has better diplomacy than this garbage.

Broken patch or something?

Same. ^

I had the US and the Aztecs ally together then try to gangrape me once. All the other times ive started the wars.

By that logic Aztec would be Mexico.

And what about the Iroquois?

over at the civfanatics forums they've found in xml files several things you can do to anger the AI.
i can't be bothered to look for the particular thread but i remember stuff like having a weak military would increase their 'hate' of you, and make it more likely that they will declare war on you. declaring war on a civ after telling them that your units next to their borders are just 'passing through' also angers everyone.

i will agree with you though, the AI in this game needs a lot more work. they do not seem to recognize the biggest threat nor do they try to unite against it. i've saved civs in the past before from rampaging superpowers and the rescued civ in return gets angry at me and call me a warmonger.

i've also had them tell me to stop settling near their lands or to remove my army from their borders, and they're insanely far away.

So what does everyone think of the Mongols? I've only fought against them so far but when Genghis Khan isn't angry or at war with you, he tends to have a really nice smile on his face.

Waiting for Shigg's map to add the Mongols in.

AI seems to have a 'If you scratch my back Ill scra..na actually  it I think I'll just kick you squarely in the balls instead, good day!' attitude. Started as Mongols on the TSL map so it doesn't matter at the moment. I'll scratch their back alright, with a sword. :P

I love them! They are fun to be and very fun to fight. Their Keshiks dominate the Medieval Ages.

Yeah, I have a current game as England on four corners with Mongols recently declaring war on me. I didn't really help it with my culture bombs around his borders though.

But yeah, the war is pretty much my Longbowmen v a mass of Keshiks.

Same reason why the first Harry Potter book doesn't have the word philosopher in its title in the USA: Americans are perceived as too stupid to understand.

That's a bit depressing.

But no, we have Siam, thankfully.

So what is the book called?

Harry Potter and the Stone?
They changed it to sorcerors stone, Even though its reffered to as the same mythical alchemy ingredient (more or less) in the book.

So I rage so hard I type in all caps in this thread.

What happens? Next day i'm playing again. WHY!?

They really need to fix the AI on this. I was fighting the french, who were superior than my in terms of their army, and I pretty much had to turtle to win. They turtled as well a bit but I came in force at that area and killed their units. It seems that they do not know the power of ranged attacks as I used by babalonian bowmen and crossbowmen to kill their longswordmen as well as the cities and used my units (longswordmena nd regular swordsmen) to mop them up when at low health. They could of taken a few of my cities but their attacks were fairly indeceisive.

They would send individual swordsmen to my undefended areas and I had bowmen/crossbowmen sitting in cities with walls of babylon on the cities and they would just take damage and fortify in their territory which was within firing range and I ended up killing their units. They also build cities in extremely secluded areas well within my territory and had a massive amount of units at one of the two, which i destroy (they turtled there in forests, was a hard fight) but they didn't defend their mainland.

The AI needs to stop building cities within another players territory. They need to bring back the Alpha Centauri borders system to this game, i dont know why that was ever removed from civ. I do not lik they building cities deep in my territory just because I have open borders, its stupid and its a free city when i go to war

How can a sorcerer call his work philosophy? He isn't contemplating the complexities of life. He's reanimating corpses into zombies...

Because, bringing life to a corpse has certain ethical implications.
And Ethics is philosophy.
